570 sportsman battery

Recommended Posts

so I got a 2016 570 Sportsman and it seems to have a battery issue, In about  early  February went out to use it and battery was dead charged up fine good to go until today doing some work and everything was good about the 6th time I went to turn it over dead battery, battery is back on charge and seems to be charging up any ideas bad battery or is not getting a charge while its running. I did use it enough since february I think that if it wasnt charging it would have been dead sooner then this

I have found that leaving my 570 on a trickle charger has solved all the issues I have had..   you can get a decent trickle charger inexpensively and it is worth it..   There are a lot of electronics on the modern ATV's..

What kind of work are you doing? The reason I ask is because you say the 6th time it wouldn't start. If you are only using your wheeler for a min and then shutting it off, then fire it up, use it for a min and then shut it off. The battery doesn't have time to recharge what it has used to start it. Just thought this might be a possibility. If that is what you are doing I would leave it running between tasks.

Trickle charger as said above should solve you issues. A three year old battery should still be fine but you never know. Most auto part stores can load test it if you don’t have the ability to.

I can't seem to get over 2 to 3 years out of an ATV battery on my 2003 Polaris 500 sportsman.

I had the same problem with my 99 Polaris Sportsman as well. Now during hunting season it’s always on a trickle charger and when the season is over I pull it from the ATV and bring it inside with a trickle charger on it. I seem to get an extra couple of years out of it now.
