Mourning Doves-- NEW YORK- Should Have A Hunting Season..

Recommended Posts

Id like to see a season, but I don't think we'll ever see one. At the very least it wont be for a long time. Just the fact that they say doves means non-hunters are going to fight tooth and nail to not allow it.

I think you are right about that. I posted up this Thread because that was what Mike Rossi was trying to get done. A Dove Season in New York.

Come on man! I made a little joke that may even be helpful-proceeds of bracelet sales could be used for the cause.
AND I voiced my opinion that I would like a season because doves are tasty....no joke there. That’s a fact(in my opinion).

What rational reason could the anti's offer to prevent a dove season?  Are they a protected class of wildlife for a reason?  They are currently fair game in most states in this country.  Why not NY?

If we make a list of all the game we can hunt in NY, one would have to ask why dove are not on the list.  They are game birds, not song birds.  They can devastate crops when they come in by the hundreds.  Their numbers are many and there is no threat of hunting wiping them out.

Emotion has to be removed from wildlife management decisions.

If that map is right looks like it will not be long until we have another dove species to hunt unless they plan on making this Eurasia dove  that is a  invasive species a songbird .
