Canton, NY

I will be heading up to Canton NY from NYC in a couple weeks with my 15yr. old for a baseball tournament/college showcase and dont have the slightest clue what that area has to offer?  For those in the area, any local eateries i should check out, anything of interest in the area etc.?..thx..

I know St Lawrence brewing is there

highly suggest River rat cheese company.  We now have distro in Buffalo but friend would always stop in Canton for us to mule some goodies back on way home from Messena

Beef snack snicks/Jalapeno and cheese summer sausage/curds/Mean and nasty aged cheddar/ they have 3 yr old aged cheddar/ 8 yr old and 12 yr old aged cheddar too. You cut it and it's like crystal cheese greatness.

Believe you can rent kayaks nearby to float the river

Nothing is nearby except FSW's farm. They probably have 3-4 feet of snow on ground already

When I went to college at Potsdam in the 80's there were like 75 bars between Canton and Potsdam and 4 universities worth of drunken college kids, cow tipping and Sergies Stromboli.
