Steve D
So I get up this morning and it is 67 degrees with a steady rain. Grab a cup of coffee and look out the patio doors across my field. I have a ladder stand in a hedgerow about 325 yards from the house that I use for "quick" hunts or when I don't feel like using the climber. It is still I a little dark but I can make out a group of deer out near my stand. I grab the binoculars and lo and behold there are 10 bucks all together in a group not 20 yards apart. At least 8 of the 10 are definite shooters and a couple are tall and past their ears. To far away for me to count points or get a picture but what a sight to see. I have never seen ten bucks together in my life let alone 6-8 shooters. I knew we had a few around but never even imagined the possibility of 10 at once. Of course three of them passed within 15 yards of my stand and a couple put on a sparring display before they all disappeared into the woods single file. I am pretty sure they were just passing through but I know it is going to make me feel pretty inadequate if I don't shoot one this year. Not sure what the rich people are doing today but know I feel pretty rich being able to see something like that.

And that many shooters is quite a group. You move to Iowa?

I have one at the other end of the field and one in the woods but that will probably change soon.

Lol ..I only had a short glass of wine last night. I am in 8h and there have been some real nice ones taken in the area over the years and have seen groups of two or three big shooters together in the summer but never a group of this size. As Moog noted I would have thought the groups would be broken up by now and I was totally caught off guard and surprised.

The_Real_TCIII
The first year of the 10/1 opener I had a single file line of 9 bucks exit a corn field and stream right under my stand. I killed the 5th one. A few minutes later two more bucks came in from the other direction. Bananas morning. My buddys son was in the woods and killed his first deer that morning as well. The date was 10/9 IIRC Edited October 2, 2019 by The_Real_TCIII
