President is the best spinning reel not only in the price range but it's as good or better than several reels over 100 dollars as well. The rods I'd say give or take. And one piece.

I Agree with Big Val.  Its one of my favorites for the money and reliability.

Not to derail but, do yourself a favor, grab a Piscifun Venom or flame reel. You can get them for $30-40. They are ridiculously good reels for the money. I own 4 of them now. I use one on a steelhead spinning rod and one on a salmon casting rod and both work great. They work every bit as good as $100+ reels for sure.

Me and a fishing buddy we're just talking about reels.  That back in the day we used to buy a reel with a ball bearing and it was top end and an expensive reel. Now you can buy 5-6 bearing reels at Walmart for $40.

I imagine it wouldn't feel that different out of the box... maybe the high end would be lighter.

But it would stand up better to abuse over time.

Again, that's just a guess.  I keep my reel's under $100 and put the extra $ into the rod.

Never used that one but have 5 or 6 shimano stradic FJ reals that were in the 250$ range and they’re my favorite reels. Yes you absolutely can tell a difference between it and a 50$ reel, is it a 200$ difference? I guess that’s up to the individual. 2bcb844fb2b10dccef9e791634e99876.jpg&key=8d8d4b46871312342ef29cdc8b1a2d72dce33504b114c4a09349427b63c31d07

Holy shit, Batman !!   Most of my firearms have cost less than that spinning reel  !!  Of course, most of them were bought prior to 1990, but STILL  !!

2000 or 3000 for general bass fishing?
