Love these little birds

Many a long day in a deer stand has been enhanced by the companionship of these little chicadees.

I especially love the lone nuthatch who hangs out with the flock of chickadees every single time I see chickadees. They look so similar in coloring too. Chickadees have landed on brim of my hat , sill of blind , shooting rail of stands , barrel of guns. Neat little things for sure.

Easily my favorite bird.  I call them the “Happy Bird”, just the way they fly makes them look like they’re in a good mood.  
 

Always curious, they cruise in and scope you out. Yes, they’ve landed on my arrow, gun barrel and tree stand.

They aren't very filling. Need to eat like 20 of them, just not worth it. 

 

Actually i always wonder how something so small and fragile can live when it's -20.

my favorite songbird. I'm looking at our resident flock picking at a deer carcass I have hanging plus working on the  bag of deer suet in the  backyard. I have a bird feeder near my "shooting house", which makes the 99% of the time when no deer are present more interesting.

However, there is one bird that I have problems with I call it "The Big-mouth Bird".........Most people call them blue jays. They have some favorite seeds (sunflower seeds)and that take that big beak and shovel seeds out of the feeder and onto the ground until they finally come to one of the sunflower seeds. Of course the doves, deer and squirrels are thankful for that, but its costing me a fortune trying to keep up with feeding every critter in the woods.

I had a couple chickadees  that would come and eat out of my hand . That lasted one season . They didn't come back  after the summer .  I knew the cadence changes in there call . I learned some in that short video. Nice.
