Yesterday I figured I’d stop by Wulff’s run on the way home on the Willow after fishing a few holes on the Beaverkill (running hot!). Caddis hatch was ridiculous but little surface activity.

I almost didn’t fish but then saw a few rises. Was fishing a size 14 green Apple caddis and snapped off on a strike that surprised me(end of the drift with drag).

Fish started rising out of reach from my position so I crossed to the opposite side. Even the Willow was high and difficult to navigate.

Nailed this beauty in a similar manner but was now fishing with more conviction after the “swing” started. Clearly the emerges were on the menu.

Great surprise at the end of a frustrating fishing day...euronymphing was a disaster. Constant tangles...hang ups...etc. not a great judge of the technique due to crazy heavy flows but it’s gonna be hard to convince myself to try again.

Idk why I didn't see this popup in my notifications.  Anyways yeah it is lol.  Possibly gonna try some surf fishing this weekend.  Got some pompano rigs and I brought my saltwater tackle down with me.  If I do go out, hopefully I have some good news to share.

Social distancing with a buddy who we’ve fished together for over 30 years. He nips me everytime. He caught 13. I caught 12. Mostly these sized. Bigger should be in soon once water warms a bit. We did have 2 doubles a34c449ad9f7075bd5a581c8190d7ea2.jpg

Thought this was pretty cool. Last couple of weeks on Oneida lake Diehards site a couple of guys have caught big brookies out of Oneida.  Have seen and heard of browns a few times but never brookies and there's been two.  Really odd and awesome .  Some are saying the clarity of the lake from zebra mussels.

Also a few big ole sturgeon have been caught in the canal.

From what I hear they were caught on the south shore.  I know there are lots of streams that run in but like you said never heard of brookies being caught .

Buddy fishing with me got a nice brown one day when we were out, but this is certainly different.
