Is now the time to harvest?  I just found some at my house but I'm a little concerned on the proper time to harvest.

The earlier you pick them the "hotter" they are as the bulb grows they become milder. Now to may is fine imo as I dont like them to hot, my neighbor digs them in February I can smell him digging them 1/2  mile away

They are a fiddle head yes but not the one you want to eat, you want to eat the ostrich fern, the stem will not be round but instead have a sort of v in it

Riverdale, Bronx.  From them near the Hudson.  A really small patch off of a road.  They look past the point of being edible.
