Bullseye!

First time for me!:smoke:

Doc says it could be a month or more old which would put me right back to my only tic infested shed hunt this year back in mid March.

Just started the Doxycycline today and follow up with bloodwork next month.

The pup picked up a handful the same hike, but has been tic free since her Seresto collar.

All my years in these woods I've NEVER seen them like this before.

How did it get in your arm ?

I never got the chance to ask him!:dontknow:

Never saw it or felt it until last week when I noticed the mark suddenly appeared and then the ring around it a few days later.

I had some nerve work done to that arm so my sense of feeling is non existent in some spots.

They really need to do something about these parasites.

Good luck wooly

Lucky I caught the bullseye mark a couple years ago, and took the doxycycline for 3 weeks. Problem cleared up, and then I ordered the Rynoskin anti tick outfit and am good to go for treks in the outback.

Geez, sorry to hear that Matt! Glad it was somewhere that you could actually see it to notice.

Maybe you should pick yourself up one of those collars for when you go on your hikes?   We won't laugh.....

More importantly than sheds, any turkey for you & your sister??

I haven't made it out past my log pile since that hike in March. Not really interested in the woods anymore since I became the main course on the menu!

My odds of experiencing illness or serious injury are much better close to home juggling the saws!;)

 Sorry Wooly.

I had to do a ton of research on tick bites. Stage two really sucks.

That's what I hear!

Thankfully I already wake up every day with all those symptoms so that would be a breeze for me,lol.

Man do I hate those nasty crawly bastids! Good thing ya found it, and are getting treated Matt.

I agree, that the woods I grew up roaming through for most of my life, are now a breeding ground for ticks. Now most any time out there will result in at least a couple of riders. But since I started using Sawyers a couple years ago, I have not gotten a bite.

Wow! That eagle is really awesome!!!  Take care my friend.

If you can see the evidence of a tick bite half the battle is won and treatment can start right away, most folks never know they were even bitten and it lets the disease take hold and manifest into a whole bunch of maladies and symptoms that are often misdiagnosed.

I came down with it bad late last summer and never saw a tick or a bite bullseye. Do not have a clue when I contracted it but believe I had it for some time. The New York Outdoor News runs a full page ad time to time from a Lyme specialist Dr. listing a whole slew of symptoms Lyme disease can produce and I could check off on having most of them.

In the beginning I attributed many of the symptoms to old age and just sucked it up and went on with life but things started getting so bad I was having a hard time doing anything physical. I suspected Lyme and requested a blood test and sure enough I had it. Within a few days of the Doxy regimen I started feeling better, today I feel pretty good and I am doing about as well as a 71 year old guy can be expected.

Sorry to hear Wooly. Sounds like you are ahead of it.

One thing for all you guys to not forget is your dog can pick them up roaming in the yard and wander inside and the tick bails because the dog has a Sorento or some other tick repellent. The tick then looks for a new host, you. I swear the last two ticks I have had I had not been in the woods for days. I finally figured out the dog most likely brought them.

I do not use over the counter tick meds on the dog. The Sorento we think was causing her neurological issues as we have a couple friends with similar problems. We use a home remedy on her. She has had lyme for many years and had it taken care of but still shows the markers.

I hate ticks

Who is they and what do you propose?

I propose each state department of environmental conservation. They do enough testing to see how many ticks there are and how many are infected with diseases. Kill them all worthless parasites.

Too many ticks on the island. They are everywhere. We even have companies down here that specialize in spraying in your yard to get rid of them.

Sawyers is awesome. I have actually watched ticks walking backwards on me trying to get away from the Sawyers. The small ones just seem to die and fall off. I never hunt without it. I soak my hunting clothes with it, let dry, them am good.

Between the ticks and mosquitoes, you cant hardly go outside without Deep Woods Off, in the warm weather.

Good luck, Wooly. Hopes this clears up soon. Lyme disease really sucks. I don't have it but I know many that do.

Just think, if you had Corona too...you'd be your own beverage, lol.

One more thing that's probably worth mentioning in all this.

My insurance was dragging their feet getting the Doxycycline approved for me when prescribed last week.

Sis took it upon herself to call the pharmacy and bitch about the delay, and ask the price of the meds to purchase them out of pocket.

The pharmacist told her a 2 week supply would be $180. Sis continued on with her angry outburst and the pharmacist found a way to cut the cost down to $68.

Still not satisfied with that, sis continued to give them hell, and by the end of their conversation I got the pills for $30 and didn't have to wait any longer for insurance approval!:imsohappy:
