Are we watching the downfall of our country?

Recommended Posts

I am 47, not only am I worried about what the future for myself but my 15 year old daughter is growing up in a very different world then I did. Between this crazy virus, shutting down the country, these riots, protests, calls for defunding the police, community leaders allowing it to happen, police officers, national guard kneeling before rioters. This is all just completely insane. This has to be just the loud minority right?

It's an election year and the Democrats are pulling out every trick to disrupt the country. This country is made up of too many hard working americans to fail . The silent majority will always come out on top. Just remember the news wont report anything positive this close to an election .

I'm 63 and have seen this country change so much in my lifetime. I still am just as patriotic as I ever was. But have seen my rights eroded slowly away, to where I hardly recognize the America I grew up with.

What we are seeing at this time, is just a little peek at what this country will look like, if and when the socialist left takes over.

Or forefather's are surely looking down with tears in their eyes.

Never be back to normal... It will quiet down again after a few months of craziness with the idiots wearing vagina hats when he wins again but never be normal...  We may actually be the minority now...  Do not forget crooked Hillary actually had more votes...

ive gotten so" i dont reconize the country" has been my exact statement.  I get so I just want to retire and fish and hunt and tune it all out.  Cause it seems society is taking a turn that i dont understand nor want to.  Maybe my way just stands in the way of progress and where the world wants to go but i just cant go with it. None of it makes sense.  There are like minded people around for sure but everyday seems to go the other way.   Ive gotten so I dont vote - and anyone can tear me apart for it - knock yourself out and waste your breath.  But ive voted for years and watched this state elect the same people i voted against in a landslide.  And the options to vote against them for candidates arent much better and most of them are lame ducks getting a payday.  With both leads of the dem and rep parties being sent to jail for corruption in NY why would i bother- so i dont. I feel like my vote for the lesser of two evils is a pill i can no longer swallow.  Peaceful protests against police brutality over the weekend in Syracuse, 11 people shot in those same three days in Syracuse.  One of them in front of the Martin Luther King school.  The founding fathers, the greatest generation, MLK and many of the other people that built a great country must be proud of it now.

But people and cultures change - i guess thats why older people understand less and less any younger generation.  But there seems to be so much hate and anger than i have ever seen.  I dont even mean just the protests and riots, just in general people going after each other on social media and needing something to be outraged about.  I think i will go fishing tomorrow, hope that doesnt anger anyone. If it does be sure to write it down or protest it cause i wont see any of it..... cause i just got a bite.....

Well said Rob.

Though I will continue to vote. So many gave so much, to give me that right. I do feel as you do, as I feel most times my vote is for the lesser of two evils. Or that it's just wasted, because in this state, the same numb nuts stomping all over my rights keep getting voted in. But I feel a duty to vote. And a certain proudness after doing so.

Respect for the fellow man has been gone for some time.

Our biggest divide is our media/journalisms. Thats where all this starts, from Cnn to fox, they are all guilty of not telling the whole or even the correct story and journalists are telling stories of their own agenda/opinion. I saw a twitter page of a cnn journalist and I couldn’t believe the shit he was posting. Hard for me to believe anything these days.

I am now realizing there is an upside to being old, I won't be around to see the libtard Democrats turn this country into the utopian shithole they wrongly want it to be, hopefully I am dead wrong! That being said for as long as I am around I will continue to fight them at every turn and vote against them every election day as long as I am physically able. I do feel sorry for the young folks for what looks to be down the road!

I served 20 plus years in the Military ( not bragging believe me ! ) and I would do it again but from what I see way too many individuals think they are owed something ! Work or starve I say , if your unable we're here to help you but god forgive you if your able and don't want to work and just want handouts ! Both Parents emigrated here met each other and married and from when I was very young they always told me what a great country this is and how lucky I am to have been born here ! I took that to heart and appreciate the life they provided for me and Family here in the Good Ole USA !  God Bless America ! Oh and Never Give Up Your Guns !

Downfall ? , Heck no we are finally all alone at the top of the heap.   At no time in history has this country enjoyed the # 1 spot by such a wide margin.   China was gearing up to be a contender, but the Covid thing pretty much did them in.  The cold war has been won and Muslim terrorism has been vanquished.     We have never had it better than we do today.   The only thing good about "the good old days" is that they are over.   Lighten up Francis and smell the roses.

It all started when we started letting the wimmens wear pants....

And then that rock and roll came along.....

What a bunch of doddering old farts.

Change happens, you still woke up,  and are posting on a social media platform; talk about ironic.

I actually agree with both of you. Still the best country bar none.  But I used to get wrapped up in politics some and I decided I am much happier if I just don't GAF.  Lol.

We are an amazing country hopefully we get past all this craziness soon. Just seems it's a mess right now for many reasons and one of them might very well be I am becoming a doddering old fart.

I'm 52 and have been saying the world is passing me by for years. I'm not talking about technology because my job made me keep up with computers to stay on top of the machining field.

I am talking about people wanting something for nothing, just plain laziness, lack of pride in yourself and your family(welfare), thin skinned crybabies. I guess I could do a page full of a list, but you guys and gals get the idea.

It's just a whole new age and I don't like a lot of it. I enjoyed the freedom i grew up in, and it seems the younger people want to just give it up willingly to let the government take care of them. And, I know it is not just the young people, or all of them. I know people my age that are happy to let everything go, make the rich people pay for everything, it will all work out.

Just not my style. I still bitch when my cell phone goes off just like I did with the land line. I will try to live out my life on my terms for as long as I can. Plenty of good things out there if you don't concentrate on the bad, which I am guilty of sometimes.

This thread is kinda funny. Most of you guys are blaming democrats for everything going to hell? Who is president again and who has the senate majority?

It is easy to condemn the protests and riots, but there is still a very strong racism in this country. And police officers dont have it easy, but there are some major racist assholes on the force and they have a crazy amount of protection. What other union is that strong that people who repeatedly screw up are getting of with a slap on the wrist?

A good exercise would be to imagine what it feels like as a black person seeing one after the other of yours getting killed by police and getting away with it. And those are just the ones that get recorded on video. Most attempts at incremental police reform have gotten nowhere.

Those cops in Buffalo that resigned from the special unit in solidarity would be fired if i was in charge. Bad cops have been getting away with murder for too long. Police is getting more militarized, and any chance they get they escalate stuff instead of cooling it. Major change in attitude needs to happen. Serve and protect whom exactly? Each other as cops and civilians are the enemy?

I thought another point of view was needed here,so here it is.

BULLSHIT  !!    Much of the racism  in this day and age is BLACK towards white....I experienced that personally, when a  a guy wanted to cut my throat  simply because I was white....That was pretty  bizarre experience for  a country boy who had never  so much as made a disparaging remark to ANY black person..Fortunately, a patrol car of Brooklyn's finest came down the street and probably saved my life...

There are a few bad apples in any organization, but most police personnel  are honest, hard working  guys who are trying to do the right thing,

They may even save your life sometime...
