My kid asked, “I don’t really know anything about her since I don’t pay attention too much to politics [honest!] but it seems like he just picked her because she is black (ya know BLM riots and stuff) and a woman. Isn’t that racist AND sexist? I mean won’t African Americans and woman just see that she was picked for those reasons and may not be the best person for the job?”

You know what, that’s not okay. I was gonna let that roll off, but comments like that just prove the sexism that exists in our society. If a woman is successful, the rumors of how “she slept her way to the top” start flying around. You should be ashamed of spreading that misogynistic bull crap around. It took all of what 5 hours or less for your macho butt to start flinging around sexist comments, I’m sure you’re  very proud.

Man or woman, you have to live with the reputation you create. I didn't know much about her until the Dem primaries. Then I learned this (from a Washington Examiner article);

Kamala Harris’ first significant political role was an appointment by her powerful then-boyfriend Willie Brown, three decades her senior, to a California medical board that has been criticized as a landing spot for patronage jobs and kickbacks. Then 30, Harris was dating 60-year-old Willie Brown, at the time the Democratic speaker of the California State Assembly, when he placed her on the California Medical Assistance Commission in 1994. The position paid over $70,000 per year, $120,700 in current money, and Harris served on the board until 1998.

Brown’s decision to appoint Harris raised eyebrows in political circles. “Both boards are reserved for political payback or occasionally for personal rewards for personal service,” said Brett Granlund, a former California Republican state assemblyman who worked closely with the commission while Harris was on the board. “The boards are considered plumb appointments as they require no work, no policy credentials, and are paid the equivalent of a full-time [state] senator for arriving at a one- to two-hour meeting each month.”

Granlund said the appointment seemed brazen at the time because of the relationship between Harris and Brown. “Screwing the speaker has its rewards,” he said. “Stevie Wonder could have seen through that play.”

Now you can say this is a right wing article, and features a quote from a Republican, but what do you, yourself think when you see a 30 year old dating a powerful 60 year old? As Joe Biden would say, C'mon Man!

I hope you are correct!

That makes two of us. If Biden gets elected she will end up being president and who knows who would be her choice for vice president.

Regardless of who gets elected gun rights will be under attack but with Biden and Harris in charge you can be assured that gun ownership in the US will come to an end.

I was thinking last night and do not know the answer and to be honest to lazy today to look it up...lol say they win and Biden steps down becasue of his early onset dementia (i know, I know but I honestly believe he has it).  So she becomes POTUS. does her finishing out his term count as a "Term and she can only run for re-election one more time or could she finish his and have two more terms?

I was curious. From Google;

The Twenty-Second Amendment says a person can only be elected to be president two times for a total of eight years. It does make it possible for a person to serve up to ten years as president. This can happen if a person (most likely the Vice-President) takes over for a president who can no longer serve their term.

Well let us look at what Harris is on the record for, how is this just for starters!

Raising Taxes

Defunding Police

Green New Deal

Open Borders and free everything to those that come through!

Eliminate Fracking

Abolish ICE, they are akin to the KKK

Big Time Gun Control and says if she is ever President she will control guns through executive orders.

Eliminate private insurance, Medicare for all

On a sad note James 'Kamala' Harris, former WWE wrestler, dies at 70 - CNN

https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/10/us/wwe-kamala-james-harris-death/index.html

Aug 10, 2020 · (CNN) Former WWE wrestler James Harris has died at age 70, according to a news release from the wrestling company. Harris, who performed in the ring as Kamala, made his WWF debut in 1984.

The Ugandan Giant was a favorite of mine, I saw him wrestle at the War Memorial in Syracuse back in the day.

This was the situation with LBJ.  He took over close to 3 years into Kennedy's presidency and then won his own term in 1964 and then chose not to run in 1968, but he could have.  So in total he could have been president for about 9 years if he ran and won in 1968.

so it appears that the 2 year window it the magic number. Joe would have to hold on for 2 years and then she could replace him and then run twice.  Thanks guys

Biden just announced that his 2020 running mate will be Kamala Harris. I for one am incredibly pleased with this. He kept his promise of selecting a woman, she is a well qualified woman of color, and has a strong moderate streak, just like Biden. I am looking forward to a fun POTUS race this year!

Revenant,

Everyone is entitled to their own political view. If you believe Biden/Harris will better your life and better America. That is who you should be supporting.

I would love to hear how you think that will happen if you ever want to have  a discussion about it. I am truly curious how any middle class American can think that but am never afraid of a new point of view.

Picking Kamala Harris, was the best thing Sleepy Joe could have done for the Trump campaign!

I would agree.  I don't care how racist this sounds, but white Americans are not ready for another black president, and with Biden on top of the ticket her taking over the presidency is a very real possibility.  He will win a good many black votes for putting her on the ticket that may have not turned out to vote, but at the same time I think he will lose more white votes, the ones he really needs to win this election.  It will be very interesting to see how this all pans out.  Right now Trump by his own stupidity and blunders has put himself in a deep enough hole.  Being down 10% in the polls at this stage of the game is not good.  Will the votes Biden loses here by choosing Harris be enough to win it for Trump?   Who the hell knows!

To the OP,  trust me when I say this, if you put this on your back :slow: , people here will oblige. Been there done that.

As for Biden and his running mate. All I can do is this:

This has all but secured another Trump victory. Which is a blessing and a curse at the same time. I know where my vote will be in November, and it sure won't be for anyone who wants to take away any part of the 2ND Amendment or allow "UN-Documented" people to have more rights then I do.

Really what does the VP do anyway other than help get votes?  They can do so by strengthening  the current stance or by connecting with the voter fan base that the main candidate couldn't connect with.  Whether this pick back fires or not I can see why they picked her.  It certainly back fired for McCain when he tried to reach the younger crowd and female base with his Palin pick.

Agreed- it just sux that such a shallow offering (skin color and gender) is what strengthens any ticket and influences voters’ decision. Not saying the right doesn’t do it as well...just saying it’s a weak ploy that will hopefully backfire

Becomes the president because I seriously think Biden is going down hill fast. If he wont debate what an embarrassment our election process will look like

Historically, was the Kennedy administration the only time a VP took over in the last 100 years?

Gerald Ford took over when Nixon resigned.  Although Ford wasn't the VP on the ticket in 1972.  It was Spiro Agnew who also had resigned and then Gerald Ford was chosen as his successor who eventually became president.

At this point in America’s history, with every thing we know about everyone, does a presidential debate offer any new insight into a candidate?

So I see Harris giving Biden the best ride of his life.  He'll have a stroke from the increase heart rate and viagra cocktail.  Then Harris' evil plan for world domination will be complete: Cleopatra style!

Her sister is a bit of a looker. Could be lots of hair sniffing in Joe’s future.
