you gotta have IQ of 2 thinking that .30-06 at 1 AM won't get any reaction....pull the hunting license from them for 5 years that would teach them a lesson, on a second thought I doubt it it will....glad they got caught

Ohio has a system for poached deer. It's one priced shopping based on the size of the deer. The minimum you would pay for the deer is $300 plus any other fines and court costs. A "trophy" buck my cost you $10k just as remediation to the state, plus the other fines. I heard 2 shots just after midnight in a field above my house 2 weekends ago. It goes on in Tioga county, too.

The only thing its going to do is slow those two down for a day of two any one that will do that at midnight will do it again it wont matter how much the fine is the courts will give you all the time you need to pay and fine and if they have a good lawyer they will walk on it all so the only thing that will happen is 1 the report in the paper 2 the gun that was taken will be returned 3 there day in court no one will know about 4 they will get away with it with a slap on the hand so all it did was slow them down

FYI - There's legislation in NY A556 https://www.nysenate.gov/…/bil…/2017/a556/amendment/original that has passed increases the minimum fines, increases them even more for repeat offenders, and effectively takes away license for 5 years in 48 states.
.....BUT Governor Andrew Cuomo has yet to sign it. If he doesn't by the end of this year it dies and does not become law. I know it's hunting season but spread the word! Even better let him know.
