WHAT...A....DAYYYYYY!

we just got back a little while ago from our longest ATV ride to date.  98.5 mile trip, just awesome! So, we all know that it is a small world.  Well we were about 40 miles in on our ride today, and we come around a bend, and there are small trees down blocking the trail.  I go take a look, I try moving them, but they were twisted and tangled making it impossible by hand.  Then I try snapping pieces off, when all of a sudden I hear motors....ended up being 2 ATVs, and a badass brand new Turbo Pro XP side by side.  They all walk over, we try ganging up, etc, I hook my winch up, but my ATV just isn’t heavy enough...So, a few mins later, another UTV shows up on the other side of the downed trees, he is a 4 seater with a big winch.  That machine had the snot to yank the mess aside enough, for us all to pass.  Here’s where it turns into a small world, the original group of 2 ATVs, and the Turbo were all headed to the sane restaurant, which at this point is maybe 3-5 miles away.  They weren’t familiar with the trails, and asked if I mind leading them, I said of course not, let’s go.  We all  arrive at the restaurant, and fuel up, and head in....The husband/wife of the turbo machine was asking where we were from, I told him the Catskills of NY.  He said oh ok, we are from Sussex County, NJ, which is like 30 minutes from our hours.  Mind you, were are about 550 miles from home at this place.  I tell him oh wow, I am 30 minutes north of Port Jervis, and I work in Middletown, NY.  Oh wow, blah blah blahh we back and forth say.  Then he says I just bought that machine outside from Middletown at Cycle Motion...I held up my ATV key chain I had on the table, its a Cycle Motion key chain....My atv was bought new there, just like that Turbo UTV! Such a crazy small world.  So, we all had a quick meal together, and I lead us the 50 miles back to town.  Great people.

Does your butt hurt from long rides like that? Not trying to be funny. But I remember once doing like 25 miles on an atv in Arizona hunting and my ass was sore. Maybe I wasn’t used to it? I don’t have much meat on mine

I hear what you’re saying.  I’m sure someone will  quote your questions with some jokes about you ATVing up brokeback mountain, or something..  Seriously though, I am a lighter guy as well, and the only thing sore on me is my upper back, where my two shoulder blades meet up.  This ATV doesn’t have power steering, so with all the rocks, and swerving, that is where I feel it.  It helps having Jenn on the machine too, added weight makes the machine more spongy of a ride.  We are definitely outgrowing this machine though.  392 miles on it this trip so far.

We love food, as 99% of you realize.  Had lobster “stew”.....um it was 5 chunks of nice tender lobster, in an extremely salty broth, nothing else.  Lobster was delicious, but I thought it was pricy for the location, and portion.  Jenn got a margarita pie, that was pretty good, Canada complain.  She took a pic of me with my moose pal.

Not an eventful day, we took it easy after yesterday’s hundred mile ATV ride.  We jumped in the vehicle, drove over to our favorite little town 19 miles up lake, to where we want to retire.  We are thinking about buying a small chunk of land in the semi-near future here, to either use for our vacation, or to hang onto, use, and then sell for profit.  We aren’t sure, just been a brainstorm the last few months.  We peaked at a few places, to see what money can buy, had lunch, then relaxed on patio, dinner, now campfire.

Also, this morning, while sipping my morning coffee on the chair, window beside was open, and I all of a sudden here a loud smack, as if a giant hammer hit metal, once.  I look outside, a loaded log truck rear ended an old mini pickup, whom backed out, in front of the semi.  The toyota’s hitch was bent down, like 45 degrees.  I kept hearing “what the f#%*?!” from the truckers mouth.  Time, is money, and he was pissed.

Well, another trip is over.  We are home, took 9.5 hrs today, rain, and morons.  Safe trip though, fortunately.  I enjoy taking pics, and sharing, so thanks for following along.  Plan is to have a new UTV for next year, and maybe 3 nights further north at a new area, prior to staying the additional 8-9 in our usual spot.  We would love to own a little rental up there, but unsure of how to manage such a thing being so far.  I know others do so up there, but unsure.
