I have not seen a shooter on cam in 2 weeks.   Looking forward to hunting tomorrow but very low expectations.

I bet the shooters are still there, just locked down with does. I have had same thing going on with my cams in regards to buck pics.

As time expires 2 doe come in to 30 yards. A little while later a nice buck comes out and starts chasing 2 other doe. Now I’m stuck in the tree with her at 17 yards! After legal shooting time! F me!

Beast on cam 4 of last 5 days in local spot but no bueno on gun as too close to houses. No day pics . Think he’s freshening up big scrape line and goes back to hiding behind houses and away from street. Had a bobcat at 10 yards today for 5 minutes at Gman’s but it got a pass 27135bde8ce056901402ee236377935c.jpg

If he feels safe and has some does he will stay close.   Wouldn't be afraid to bring a bow after that monster. Wow. Hope u get a chance at him.

Hit the close of archery for a short evening sit after work. Found a nice set of fresh scrapes. Some dude blew a trail for about two miles on public land to get back there. Was amazed at the effort he put in.

Ended the season fittingly seeing nothing. The most brutal early season for me since my first season. Really miss the old private honey hole that I had and tons of lessons learned.

Off to regular season tomorrow. Have a few gun spots scouted out and hopeful the season changes the luck.

Congrats to all that connected this season. Some great deer get me inspired to keep going after it. Good luck and safe hunting to all headed out tomorrow.

I can’t count points with crappy pics  but nearby non hunting neighbor says 12-13. He’s definitely a slob

I can tell you what would happen to me. I would become obsessed with that SOB and hunt there with a bow every day.  Worth the risk of eating a tag to get one shot at that thing.

Down a doe somewhere quick and drive it directly to Constanzas then hunt that monster like he owes you money.

For short hunts I probably will. But sucks he’s nocturnal. 3 cams on small parcel.  No day pics of him.

A couple years ago, I had a daytime encounter with a big one, on the last day that I could hunt during archery season. That stand was also too close to structures (mobile homes and sheds) to use with a gun.  Immediately after the encounter, I pulled that stand.

I got on Google maps sattelite feature,  and located a spot that was about 550 feet from the closest man-made structure, but within shotgun range of where I last saw the buck.

On opening day morning, my second shot from 300 ft away, broke the buck's back and dropped him, just over 500 ft from the nearest man-made structure.  It was fortunate that he fell where he did, because he required a 3rd "finisher" shot.  Had he dragged himself a few more feet, I'd have had to use my knife to stay legal.

Is it illegal to fire guns at your spot ?  NY law says that you may not fire a weapon closer than 500 feet from a man-made structure, without permission of the owner, however your bullets may land closer than that. That means that the deer can be closer than 500 ft from a structure but the shooter can not. Maybe you can use google maps to locate a good firing position.
