I'll write up the full story later. Still trying to settle down. Basket case of emotions today. The long story short on this buck.... I missed/hit a tree 2 years ago. Didn't see him last year. Had an arrow deflection this year and hit him in the ham. Saw him alive a week later. Dad "Duke" finally put the old boy down this am. I can honestly say I'm happier he got him than me. He deserves it. 71years old and laying em down !

Saw 8 does yesterday, this morning I saw 3 does at first light, then about 8am saw two does enter my sanctuary after feeding in the plot then an hour 45 minutes later this 7 point comes into plot at 945  then quickly heads towards the does that were there earlier following thier trail, was not gonna stop, led him as he walked and dropped him in his tracks. Shot with new 6.5 creedmoor using Hornady 120 grain GMX bullets. Hit high shoulder came out neck on exit side. Hes a hefty boy.

When I watched him walk away couple weeks ago, with a giant hole in his ham, I remember saying multiple times he was 2' wide outside....... I'm certain somebody can very that. I'll put a tape to him at some point. Today is not the day to measure. It's not about the score 685c01c918810a39cc96ef853ad2dcff.jpg

I’ve seen zilch on my 2 morning sits. I’m going to go out tomorrow after the rain stops and try my low fencerow tree (I can only climb about 8ft).  I’m hoping I can at least see something so I can figure out where they are moving.

Congrats to everyone!! Saturday morning my brother saw 7 doe, I saw 3 and a spike and my dad got skunked, not a lot of shots at all throughout the day. Sat evening we all got skunked. This am my dad and I got skunked again and my brother saw 3 doe. This afternoon my dad saw one of the slammer bucks (I ran across once during bow) on his walk into the woods for the afternoon, came across him and a doe bedded not far off the trail, my dad only had a neck shot while it was standing there then it took off with the doe and he didn’t shoot, he didn’t wanna wound it. He called me right after it happened swearing how big a buck it was and how that got his heart going at 72! I told him to hunt as much as possible in this area as I doubt him and the doe are far off. Neither my brother or I shot a doe as were hoping to get our kids with us for a few hunts and take one then.

Congrats . Nice bear. One day I want to get just one in NY.

Thank you.

Never had bear before, but I really kind of wanted a rug, now I'll have both.

Anyone got any good recipes?

WIndy as hell out here, didn't see anything else move. The wind was so noisey I didn't even hear this guy until he was about 30 yards away.

I haven't gotten a bear of course but if I did was planning on making a lot of sausage.  Def was gonna make a bear maple blueberry breakfast and some bear beer brats.

I've had bear stew before and that was very good.

Let us know what you make out of it.

Brown sugar, Cumin, salt/pepper let sit sit overnight.  Delicious
