It was respect for the deer. Didn't want to consume his soul completely. Felt that would be a bit too morbid and gruesome

I have never even had cooked deer heart . Sounds unappealing . Possibly if someone had me try it without me knowing what it was would work .

I honor the animal with a shot of Jamo, one for me and one for the animal. Oh and of course I eat the animal but I prefer cooked .My father would kick my ass if I left the liver behind. He loves it fried with bacon and onions. I could take it or leave it.

On meateater some chef made heart tartare or ceviche. I dont know the difference. I thjnk id be scared to do it at home but it looked delicious.

Why would you be scared... as long as you know the animal was dressed properly and guts weren’t popped it’s fine
