Point or Pointer

Is it an 8 point or an 8 pointer?  Hear it both ways but for me it's an 8 point.

I’ve heard plenty of people say something to the effect of “He was a real nice 8” or “8 point”.

So far this year I haven’t had the opportunity to say either or ither .

Out West it’s weird an 8 pt, could be a 4x4 or a 4 as I know guys who just count one side and some don’t count brows ....

I count everything then add a couple .

I would refer to the buck as either an “eight point buck” or an “eight pointer” ... but I haven’t seen a shooter yet this season.

I'm an 8pt kind of guy. Actually, it's a pet peeve of mine when I hear someone say, "8pt buck".   It's like, DUHHH. If it's an 8pt, it's pretty much a given that it's a buck!! YES, I know does can have antlers, but it's a rarity.

Looking at the 2020 gun harvest thread, I guess I am a "point" guy.  As long as it has 3 or more of those on a side, then it is a "shooter" for me, prior to Thanksgiving.  After that, a single 3" spike is enough.
