2020/2021 shed season

Spending a lot of time in the woods is rewarding for many reasons.... on the road and in the bush im always looking for some bones. This is from deer season so far. Couple vehicle kills a shed and a little buck i found dead in my lease that someone obviously shot and didn't track out.

Sheds on the hide and deadheads cut and in the box from the last 3 seasons. I also use the cut off horns for furniture around the house

Does anyone know if there is a local antler buyer? Or where to sell them?

You can make some nice $$ on ebay. They sell fast specially the big ones.

I’d like to try a “fur on” hide this year if I get another. Always worried about it “slipping” if/when I mess it up!!!

Found a good one from last year 2 weeks ago while looking for my buck that I shot on Nov 4  I also did find my buck that I lost, but unfortunately someone else found him first and took the head.

I did. Its pretty simple but I dont have the right tools for fleshing and it really is tough on my hands.

I figure if it slips ill make buckskin with it. Seems pretty easy if you are dillegient with fleshing and salting fast. Im using orange bottle and following directions exactly.

Thats a stud!!! My favorite buck hunt is a giant dead doe and a shed in the same trip.

I look for horns, while scouting and hunting. Good way to get excercise and learn the woods for sure

I have never found a shed. I must look with my eyes closed, same way my wife says i look for condiments in the fridge....

I enjoy it too . Most years I find a few, 5-8 or so , I walk a couple hours here and there maybe 15-20 hours total .

I have only found 1 small one in years of walking. Even walked in Mendon Pond swamp area and came out empty handed

I got the dope. You gotta watch where the deer are in January and February best time to look is beginning of March

I'm putting cameras out this weekend to see who's left and when they start dropping the bones.

I look for sheds when i am scouting in the winter and early spring but have not had much luck yet.

Shot a shed buck yesterday. Looked like probably a spiker
