Hunting NY Get Together at Thrill Of The Hunt 3D Range (On Long Island)

Thank you "BurmJohn", and all the sportsmen who make huntingny.com, the best NYS hunting forum, and the sport of bowhunting so exciteing and challenging.

We designed this facility to increase the success rate for bowhunters in the woods, while at the same time making it both fun and challenging.

Thrill Of The Hunt can be somewhat intimidating the first time, but as the stations progressed, and the "hunters" started to relax, and the form returned, their arrows started to find their predetermined spot.

It was indeed a pleasure for Marilyn and myself to host the first huntingny.com field trip, and look forward to a repeat event later in the year, prior to the hunting season.

Thank you all for your support, and for strengthening the "Brotherhood Of The Bow"

That was a nice group you guys had at Art's. Wish I had known more about this site before the shoot, we would have joined you. Myself and my buddy Frank were the guys shooting on the paper targets while you guys were finishing your first round. We shot while you guys were doing the second round. Thanks for the offer of lunch, that was very generous. Maybe the next event you host at TOTH I will be there. Heck, I am a club member and shoot in Art's Friday night league. Great place, Art's a great guy and the shooters there are always helpful and fun. A real family place for a day of fun or a place to let the hectic week melt away with some friends while shooting the course. Anyone interested in winning a bow (new Diamond Deadeye), The club members are raffling off the bow in order to purchase exotic targets for the range. Art will have raffles at TOTH and I will have them on the weekdays at Suffolk Trap and Skeet. So far I am leaning towards a bufflao and an alligator for a far and close shot. But Art will have the final say, it's his range.

How did the Hunting NY member with the broken Mathews limbs make out? I had my Bowtech Destroyer let loose on me at TOTH while Art was watching my form. It was a painful and scary experience. That happened one week before opening day and fortunately for me I had my Mathews Xtreme as a back up. Let me know how you made out with getting new limbs for the bow.

It was nice to see a bunch of guys from a forum show up for a meet and a shoot. To support their local shooting ranges and sports.

It was nice meeting you guys briefly... That limb snapping was pretty scary. That was during the second round, I think his name was John, really cool guy. The limb cracked as he was about 80% pulled back, hopefully he can just send the limb out for replacement with Mathews.

What does the raffle cost? I just wish the range was a little closer, if it was I'd be part of the league.

Hey Guys, it was definitely great meeting everyone and competing against a great group of guys. I'm the guy that had the Limb break on the Mathews. I brought it to Smith Point Archers and the guy said that's the first time he's seen anything like it. It was definitely scary and glad that thing didn't explode. I'll find out today what the deal is.

In any case, it was a great time with good people and would definitely do it again. If any of you guys wants to get together for a hunt this fall give me a ping. I usually head out alone since none of my buddies hunt so it would be great to hunt with you guys.

Thanks again to John for putting this together and bringing everyone to this event, it was definitely worth it.

Your Friend,

John (a.k.a jpolihro)

Thanks for the vote of confidence John. After your yardage was set you were shooting great!!! I am just glad you did not get hurt!!! I am working on getting my back in shape but Im up for another shoot any time. Let me know if you want to try out Suffolk archers, I can take up to 3 people a year I believe. Otherwise I am always interested in hunting with good people!!! We can discuss that while shooting, I always have room in my wall tent for extra people... As long as you dont mind the 51/2 hour ride up... Otherwise I am always willing to check out new area's for hunting...

Let me know when your bow is ready and we can shoot some more!

This is our calendar of events for 2012: Many are open to the public, nice way to see if you like the place... That is how I was hooked... Great place to shoot and dues are afordable.

Yesterday was my 1st time Going out Deer Hunting EVER. Found some really good bedding probably bout 10 yards in. found a tree 20 yards from the bedding just in front of a trail that resembled ones I seen researching online. Set up 20ft in the tree. Sprayed the doe piss 2x 45 min later, here comes the biggest antlered dear 6pt thst I have personally seen. He taking his slow time but I’m nervous. Texting my buddy asking him what should I do nervous as FUCK. No soon as I stand ( he doesn’t get me cause I’m soaked in doe piss ) here comes the bikers playing music Party done. Needles to say this HUNTING SHIT IS DEF FOR ME.

Anyone going to the Total Archery Challenge?  Saw this on U-Tube a few days ago and my friends signed up this week, so I joined in.  Looks like a really cool shoot with some long distance shooting to make it real fun out to 100 yards.  We have 4 of us total going should be a good time.  If your interested in some long distance fun this is the course for you!  Now I just need to get more accurate out past 80 yards!  Looks like I might go to a single pin for this shoot, hoping to get a new bow before we go.  Looking at the Elite Ritual with optimizer lite sight just need to set it up so I can adjust to 100 yards.

FYI - There's legislation in NY A556 https://www.nysenate.gov/…/bil…/2017/a556/amendment/original that has passed increases the minimum fines, increases them even more for repeat offenders, and effectively takes away license for 5 years in 48 states.
.....BUT Governor Andrew Cuomo has yet to sign it. If he doesn't by the end of this year it dies and does not become law. I know it's hunting season but spread the word! Even better let him know.

Just a few pics and video from our recent trip to NJ.  The Pink Flamingo was funny!  Good times!  Sorry so shaky but the dam  GoPro is tiny!  I did not do much editing and just threw this together over the weekend.  A lot of fun with new and old friends!
