How Long Do You Keep Powder?

[Five Seasons]

I've been shooting Triple 7's forever, the kind that come in a black plastic case. I keep the pellets in my safe which is inside my temp/humidity controlled house and I also keep a dehumidifier thing inside the case. How long is too long before replacing?

I have shot it when it was about 2.5 years old. It was fine but was also kept in a very dry place.

I use 209 and have had it since 2012.   Still goes boom every time.  I store it in my basement which is pretty dry in the plastic canister it came in.

On Saturday we shot close to MOA groups using BH209 that was purchased in 2011 with a hastily organized field sighting-in session.

I'm going to the range today or tomorrow. Mine was bought in 2014, went boom last year. Fair to put a couple down range and consider the whole box good if the shots are good?

Well why not make it more than a few, this way you can use up you’re older powder and have fun shooting the M/Z for a bit.

I have a container of black powder from 1912, still shoots fine.  A I have several canisters of 3031 from the seventies which have had no noticeable degrade...(at recommended loadings chronogragh). If kept away from heat and in a sealed container, modern powders are very stable.

Well crap, hope my scope is on because I opened my kit and have a ton of powder and primer but only 7 sabots. Just placed an order but not sure on ETA. Eeeekkk maybe the mathews comes back out haha

Well glad I took a trip, last 2 deer I shot with the optima were dead nuts kills but I was high and to the right.

In shape now, but man I hate cleaning these things haha.
