I get that but your wood stove has the same footprint as a stove that burns evil coal

Coal took thousands of years to form,an acre of woods produces more than a cord per year. A tree takes carbon from the atmosphere and releases it when burned. That is a different story from mountaintop removal to get at coal and taking something that will not be replenished for millennia.

Big picture folks

I do split my wood by hand,a logging truck load every year. I do use a chainsaw though.

Everybody has room for improvement in their lifes regarding the environment,me as well.

What chemicals are in the wastewater?  Itemize them for me.  Or do you just swallow the stuff your handlers tell you.

How many spent fuel rods are needed in a modern nuclear reactor and why is it the major source of energy in France today?

The lubricating agents used in fracking are proprietary.  I do know that regular wastewater plants can not clean fracking fluid.

Why are the test of europe phasing out nuclear power? Sweden is nuclear free i believe and Germany is just about there.

Mike, come on.  I totally believe that youre cognizant-and at least somewhat knowledgeable- of alternative forms of energy and conservation of resources; your posts clearly demonstrate it. And, to be honest, I respect that, really.  But dont get carried away with the horse and buggy nonsense because Thats just not too realistic.   There are some hard-core environmental radical loonies out there that actually advocate for us to go back to a Hunter-and-Gatherer type society you know and thats wacky as hell.  Would you actually want that ?

What is with the all or nothing attitude? America was the world leader in horse drawn implement technology in the 20's and 30's. The economy over 100 years ago was much more regional, money circulated in the community. Small is beautiful, that's a good book about small economy.

Either way,we are not going all the way back, but there are good parts to learn from. Like small scale water power,no batteries needed for that.

All the environmental problems pale in comparison to the world population though, and if we as humans cant even get a grip on the environmental problems that one is way out of reach.

Exponential growth only works for so long.

I do realize a lot if people dont want to think about this stuff, doesnt mean it isn't there though.

Oil is a modern miracle to the entire world, no other substance right now is even close. All forms of energy have drawbacks to them but on an enormous scale oil is best right now. So if Biden wants to curtail emissions fine. But China Russia India and countless others will not. So it’s all bs.

Are you attributing the all or nothing question to me specifically or others too?  Look,  I'm not saying we shouldnt look into --and use, when practical--alternative energy sources, not in the least.  I think its a great idea--but it must be phased in GRADUALLY and with a common-sense approach.  All I said was the horse and buggy thing is a little wacky lol.

I do agree with you, however, that the #1 conundrum we face is the ever increasing human population issue.  Eventually, we WILL run out of space.  Then, I guess its off to colonize Mars!!

An asteroid will probably wipe the planet out before Joe and ho do it.  Screw it, burn all the cheap fuel we can, enjoy energy independence, kick the bums out of office and prosper. I thought horse and cow farts caused too much damage to the atmosphere. Joe and Ho would just impose a fart tax....Some of youse guys just crack me up.

I do have two horses,so i am halfway there,haha.

And i agree it has to be a gradual transition as well, that is the only option. But we took some steps backwards regarding coal especially.

We are running out of time with the transition, things are going out of whack. Natures system are very resilient, but the tipping point is  near.

And if i am wrong than we just achieved cleaner emissions earlier, what's not to like?

Self center much? Go party with merlot.

Did you quit your job today or are you also self centered along side the rest of us? Do you needed two horses or just enjoy them and don’t care about them polluting? And how should we address the fact that as we send production overseas it only causes more pollution due to lack of regulations? How much time do we have left and what is out of wack? Studies show the earth as gone through multiple heating and cooling cycles but I agree we should work on renewable resources but as a fellow axe splitting wood burner if you think firewood is clean renewable energy as compared to natural gas your crazy. If you want to look into a cleaner renewable energy source look into the future of DME as a better stepping stone then EV’s or solar.

What's not so funny here, is that while the US is leading the world in reducing it's carbon boot print, the rest of the countries that are supposed to be doing the same, aren't.

Paris accord or not, the US is doing it's part and more and those other countries were laughing at us, until Trump took the US and it's billions of dollars out of the Accord.

Then their tune changed and the accord went to crap, as the other countries that were supposed to be contributing, couldn't come up with their measly contributions.

No US money, No Paris accord.

Now we're going to bend over and take it up the arse and give money to other countries for not doing their part, AGAIN !!!!!

Also, the climate czars that are leading the charge have the biggest carbon boot print and won't give up there gas guzzling cars, suv's, jets and multiple mansions, all the while telling us to start using solar and EV's ?

Thanks, but no thanks.

I am ready for something different..I also drive a truck, but would not mind going back to horse and buggy.  It doesnt hurt to think of the big picture. If anyone thinks burning fossil fuels that took hundreds of thousands of years to form at the scale we are burning it has no effect on the environment they are fools.

It makes me happy i dont have any kids that will have to live in an ever crazier world because we did nothing to change. You think caravans of people seeking refuge are big now, wait another 20 years and get back to me then.

Business as usual will be anything but.

Well, lets follow China's lead and put a limit on the amount of children Americans are allowed to have, as the need for energy is derived from the amount of people that need that energy.

Maybe we need to start WW3, as the China Virus isn't living up to it's death expectancy numbers, even with Heir Cuomo's helping hand.

Less people, Less oil.

You heard it here first.

Running out of time ?

Are you so vain to think that mother nature cares about the human race and that we can actually change the planets temperature ?

Do you know how many world altering atomic and nuclear devices were set off in the 40's, 50's and 60's ?

Mother nature said bring it on, that's all you got punks !!!!

We've been on this planet but a millisecond in the planets timeline and if she wants us gone, no amount of recycling or sacrifices are going to stop her.

Just ask the Dinosaurs and the Mayans, who must've really pissed her off !

Scientists have recorded five significant ice ages throughout the Earth's history: the Huronian (2.4-2.1 billion years ago), Cryogenian (850-635 million years ago), Andean-Saharan (460-430 mya), Karoo (360-260 mya) and Quaternary (2.6 mya-present).Mar 11, 2015

That's why  green deal is bs not going to work climate is always changing but gov got  people like you thinking you can control the worlds temputure like it is  a AC unit.

The  US is leading the world in reducing its carbon footprint? Where did you get that interesting piece of information?

You think we don't affect the planet? Wow.

The planet does not care about us,i agree with that. But i think it would be nice if we could avoid wiping out most species including ourselves by being smarter about things. The planet will most likely recover when we are gone, but that won't matter to us.

The United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis – a fall of 140 Mt, or 2.9%, to 4.8 Gt. US emissions are now down almost 1 Gt from their peak in the year 2000, the largest absolute decline by any country over that period.Feb 11, 2020

https://www.iea.org/articles/global-co2-emissions-in-2019

Once again, you are not well informed and should not be lecturing others.

The United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis – a fall of 140 Mt, or 2.9%, to 4.8 Gt. US emissions are now down almost 1 Gt from their peak in the year 2000, the largest absolute decline by any country over that period. A 15% reduction in the use of coal for power generation underpinned the decline in overall US emissions in 2019. Coal-fired power plants faced even stronger competition from natural gas-fired generation, with benchmark gas prices an average of 45% lower than 2018 levels. As a result, gas increased its share in electricity generation to a record high of 37%. Overall electricity demand declined because demand for air-conditioning and heating was lower as a result of milder summer and winter weather.

Like when I used to go to Mexico, I now need to be reminded that I shouldn't drink the water in Cooperstown !

If you break things down to population numbers, the US actually is in the middle of every type of graphic, but since we have 360+ million humans living here, you can't compare our numbers to Germany's 82+ million population.

The info is out there, provided by Gov't and private sources, you just need to take the blinders off.

What does Fauci or Dr Oz say about it ?

Until the socialists take down every type of evidence that contradicts their agenda, I'll go by the millions of years of hard evidence that scientists have gathered that show "Global Warming", "Climate Change" and whatever new age term they can come up with, has been happening with and without the very egotistical human race being on this planet.

It's not happening faster or slower, because the data collected shows what's happening over decades and centuries, not daily or even yearly.

I should buy stock in Aluminum foil companies , as I see a big need for the production of tin foil hats for many Dems coming soon with the new Climate Czars "Sky is falling" press conferences.

Google, thats where:

the USA

According to data collected by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in 2019, the USA had the most significant CO2 reduction in the world on a country basis, while, as an entire economic bloc, the EU had a more considerable CO2 reduction.Feb 19, 2020

Although we are still a major CO2 emitter, NOONE (except maybe the UK) has reduced their emssions more than us--fact!!
