If you are going with a 15" barrel don't shy away from the 308 Win as well. It's very manageable in that heavy of a pistol

I have the 7-30 waters barrel on my Contender . I also have a 22 , 223 and a 44 mag barrel for it . The 7-30 waters is a nice barrel for deer .

For a 7-08 and 308 , I would think you would need a Thompson Encore .

I was at cabelas over the weekend inquiring about a Thompson center in 3030 and 243 they didn't have any but the guy said I could order it online it would arrive at the store 4 days later if you get there and don't like it they'll refund you your money.
