Nothing seen in a 2 hour sit.  I started walking home at sunset time hoping to catch one near the pond.  Stood inside some thick brush for 15 minutes till legal time and saw nothing.  Walk another 50 yards and 6 doe are at the top of the hill.   They watched me for a couple of minutes and then blew and took off.  One fo them stayed behind but eventually moved off.  Not only am I not see deer during legal time, I’m blowing them out on my way back in the dark.  Not good, Not good at all…… I’m burning up all my spots. Going to hunt a little in the AM, maybe a still hunt, I think the wind will be right for it.  Then turkey and back at it Friday.

This just in.....he is walking over my path home.1faa9b03468dd5e4f92be692208c42d2.jpg

The answer to this question was - dark.

Had a long time to think about this and I figured the guys that say they always kill bucks between 10-2 and talking about 10pm and 2am.

I’m beginning to think the only way I kill a deer is if I poach it!

KIDDING OF COURSE

We are def behind the 8 ball on bucks this year my friend. Hopefully that changes for both of us. We have both been almost tripping over them but never out at the right time or place so far. Good luck in the morn.

side note, a friend killed a 140 class buck and I’m doing the euro right now. This deer is OLD. 205 lbs dressed.

I punched the tag Paula graciously gave me tonight in East Aurora.  I didn’t make a great shot and had to finish her with a second bullet out of the muzzleloader.

The drag is only 150 yards but it’s all uphill.   Uggh

Bow hunted 3S this evening for the last two hours. Moved two off the ridge above me that was loaded with fresh runs. About 4:00 a doe appeared in the field behind me that I was hoping she would enter from in front of me…great area that I have not yet hunted this year until today. I’ll be back when I can!

Congratulations

I still have a doe tag, I'm going out Friday. I have no room in my freezer but I am sure it could be donated if I do get one.

Come on! That’s not even 500 feet! Did you shoot her on your way back to the parking?

So, this guy was a real warrior. There were three of us hunting my buddies property, two carrying shotguns and me with the 25-06. The landowner spotted this buck about 80 yards out and knocked it down with the first shot but it got back up and was limping off so he kept shooting. He got out of his stand to chase it and kept shooting, knocking it down two more times. Meanwhile, I got out of my stand to try and cut it off but it turned and crossed the field where a young hunter on the adjoining property shot at it twice when it ran right under him, also knocking it down. My buddy caught up to it but couldn’t get a shot. I set up next to a brush lot opposite all the action and got lucky when I heard the deer coming through the brush. I knelt down and spotted him as he stuck his head and shoulders out of the brush. Neck shot dropped him right there. Finally tally was 17 shots. 14 from the first shooter, two from the neighbor kid and one from me. The buck had an injured front foot that was misshapen and caused his limp. Scars from fighting all along his back and neck and a gouge below his eye. The Swiss Buck, as in Swiss Cheese from all the shots. One antler tine shot off, lower jaw shot off, shoulder shot, grazed under the front leg, neck shot and my kill shot in the neck.
Nothing pretty about this one but it’s hanging in the barn after a real fight.

She had rocks in her belly like a Yorktown deer.  No agricultural for miles….
