Oh and it's cocked and locked minutes, hours or days prior to pulling the trigger.

You leave.it for days and it explodes 4 hours  and you pretty.much have to shoot it only a few have way to let it down..  can put draw lock on a bow and do same so again same as bow not a gun..

Last I heard you need a doctor's note for a draw lock and I only know two (2) guys that ever got one.  One is DED and the other laughed at the goofy thing and never used it.  LOL, keep digging.  :)

Say what you want about crossbows. I can't shoot a bow anymore. Nothing to do with drawing it back, but with tremors. I can't hold a bow still enough to hit broadside of a barn. A crossbow would be the only way for me to hunt the full archery season in NY. All my archery hunting is now in PA, with a crossbow. So go ahead and sit on your high horse and complain about crossbows, I would love to be able to hunt the whole archery season in NY again! I don't wish anything bad on anybody, but if you couldn't hunt with a verticle you would probably change your tune.

It sounds like you would do some archery season hunting in NY, if full inclusion of crossbow went thru.

That might put you in position to take a NY buck that might otherwise fall to a NYB member.  It is all starting to make sense now.

It looks like the forum is shut down on the NYB website, which has brought some of them over here.

It's sad that these threads turn toxic every single time. Why can't people just leave NYB or Crossbow Coalition alone? Whether you agree with 1 side or the other, who cares. Just stay out of the threads. We all know the forum is roughly evenly divided between the topic so what else is there to discuss?

Difference is because you want someone else’s season. Fight to take over firearm season. Why exactly do you want so badly to make things easier for you crossgun folks? They all wanna call themselves bowhunters. Earn the title and make things harder than need be. Crossgun guys will never get that.

It’s archery equipment and takes the same skill set to be successful with. No season belongs to anyone. I do or have hunted with every legal implement out there short of a flintlock and longbow, I’m a hunter, not an elitist. What you hunt with has no bearing on “how much of a man” you are. It’s personal preference. You can ignorantly call it whatever you want, but you aren’t doing yourself any favors by doing so.

BTW, modern vertical bows really aren’t that hard. I havent shot mine in over a year and guarantee you I could pick it up and put an arrow in a softball size target at 30 yards right now. Ask Biz how long it took him to get his compound on target. Are crossbows a little easier to get accurate with? Absolutely, but why is that a bad thing? I’d rather see folks actually kill deer cleanly more often and wound them less.

my original point still stands, crossbow organizations are not out there working against other hunting implement organizations like NYB does.

I guess I didn't realize that NYB members had priority over other hunters. I certainly wouldn't want to harvest one of "their bucks" off my own property!

i know what your saying  joe i got tremors in my left arm too .It started like 8yrs ago i panicked thought i had Parkinson's i when to a neurologist and got a cat scan on my head [they didnt find anything up there lol] but , with me its episodes i can shoot no problems then my arm shakes uncontrollably and i gotta stop i cant hold my left  arm str8 out.A rifle i have no problem but, the doctor said i must have injured my arm one time i got nerve damage.Last yr i fell off my bicycle right on my left arm i could draw my bow back this was 3 days after i got my license so i looked @ ways i could still shoot my bow I found the draw-a-lock and its legal too [i went on the D.E.C. site and printed the permit out and had my doctor sign it its good for a year. Now with the crossbow back in the 60's and 70's what they fought for was a primative arms season [bow and muzzleloader] why the cross bow was not included cause it had no report [no sound when it is shot ] and it would encourage poaching [i got this for my fathers friend back in the early 70's who owned one].As far as being a primative arm it was invented in china in 7th century bc and in greece in the 4th century bc. But think about this how many bow ranges allow crossbows [in nyc NONE including Floyd Bennet field  [thats outdoor]

3:1 in favor of full  inclusion of the crossbow is as close as I have ever seen it in a poll on here and there have been many.  Maybe it's time for another, now that the NYB forum is shut down.

I dont shoot groups, they don’t matter as far as hunting goes. Spots are where it’s at.

No, so stand in the yard and shoot straight at a 30 yard target ,those shots always present themselves when hunting with a bow.

I could Do it out of a stand or whatever. It’s not hard once you get it. Longer distances are what need to be practiced. Shot angles need to be learned, but the same goes for crossbow.
