I get quite a few down here in Ohio, my thought was maybe it is caused by being damaged in velvet. I have lots of fields and thick scrub around me. But my theory may be way off. The one 6 I shot I think looked like velvet damage.

I definitely use venison to balance my annual grocery budget. Can count on my fingers how many times i bought beef in the last decade.

Weirdest one I saw in person was one my cousin shot.  It had 2 8inch spikes coming off of each side of its head and that's it.   No injury no bases even on top of his head just on the side behind the eyes.  He thought it was a doe with an arrow in her neck when he first saw it.

As far as i know. Hard to tell,  that one looks like damage to the pedicle.

Hunted a 13 point one yr that had one side that curled completely under his chin. Was eventually killed during gun about  3 miles from where i hunted. Never got to see it up close  but i heard it was a cool mount.

Here is another one that would have been a great 10pt but was messed up so only had 3pts on its left rather than a symmetrical 10pt ended up an 8pt
