Beauty and a hell of a long arm to boot!!

14 year old, so not the biggest dude in the woods, and barely has his fingers on the antlers. So I'd have to agree the picture is misleading a little. Still a great buck though.

When the main beam lines up or beyond the tip of the nose on a profile image…you got a big deer.

Congrats, and hell of a 1.5 yo dink, too!

Same Kool Aid, different flavor. I’m learning, and I have a long ways to go, but it just seems better to congratulate the hunter and leave it be, whether it be on the dink or slammer sides of the spectrum, or in between.

I know a kid who got lucky like that with a 10 point buck for his first deer.  We call it the beginner's curse, as he hasn't been able to take a nice buck ever since, and it's been 20 years.  He still says he'll take luck over skill anytime.  LOL!

This kid is to be congratulated on that buck for sure.  I wonder where he was hunting if he was able to pass up other bucks before he shot that one.  I would imagine a young man would want to shoot his first buck at the first opportunity that presented itself.  Hard to imagine passing up bucks to shoot a big one as your first.

Anyway, he has a great memory to store away now.

Beautiful buck. Hope he gets a quality shoulder mount done. @luberhill, sometimes luck is on someone’s side. To be honest i used to say that a lot. Then I started bow hunting and I began to see all kinds of deer. Maybe not in range but i was seeing bucks! A lot can hinge on what kind of neighbors you have as well.

Phase, I agree. The part of the caption below the picture that's a bit over the top is the part about passing up young bucks and lots of patience paying off. It was the kids first gun season and it was opening day, how much patience was there really... Just say the kid had a great opportunity and capitalized on it. Good for the kid, but don't act like he'd been hunting for 10 years to get the buck.
