mlammerhirt
Has anyone ever rented one of those shanties that you can sleep in while out ice fishing? Was wondering what areas offered a type of service like that. May look at taking my boys this winter if I can find something reasonably priced for a weekend stay. surmn8er
Used to do that up at Simcoe. Lots of fish and lots of fun.

mowin
How about a hotel instead of sleeping in a shanty? Might be a little more comfortable for the kids. Not the same experience, but I'm old and I'm into comfort, lol.

My good buddy was huge into ice fishing.....so I have access to everything I need.....I just kinda want to show up, have some fun fishing, and call it day. Though maybe the shanty idea would intrigue the kids......but not against a hotel/motel option. Sent from my SM-A716V using Tapatalk

Used to rent shanty's on lake Champlain yrs ago, but they were day long rentals. Was just giving you options if you couldn't find overnight rentals.
Otto
A bunch of us went to Couchiming Lake, which is connected to Simcoe. At the time they had big sleds and would pull you out onto the ice to a heated shanty. You could fish in the shanty or walk around wherever you wanted. At 4pm they would drive by and pick you up and bring you back to shore. We had all our own gear, but you may be able to rent some items if you need something. We stayed in a rental house. Had a great time and fought a ton of perch. This was maybe 20 years ago. Sorry not more helpful, but the whole area up there is tuned to ice fishing and guiding, so you should be able to find something with a little searching.

TreeGuy
Do yourself a favor and buy or borrow an underwater camera. They are definitely entertaining for the kids and Simcoe usually has great clarity and lots to see down there. Tons of whitefish there to catch along with the perch. If you end up "ice camping" bring your own CO detector even if they say they have them.Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
