Covid round two!

If Biden really wanted to unite this country he could do one thing very quickly. He could get rid of all these vaccine mandates. Look at the infighting just on this forum from fairly like minded individuals. The threads that have anything to do with covid become longer than all but Live from the Woods. I've been here since 2013 and never seen anything like it. Even during the Obama years. Even the so called lefties on the site aren't the lefties we all complain about. Maybe I'm wrong but i would be willing to bet that none of them have, thrown things at police officers, torn down a statue or attended a BLM rally. That doesn't mean i have to agree with their politics. It shows just how divided our nation is. It kind of shows you how neighbors fought neighbors and Fathers fought sons in the Civil war. When you think about that, its really kinda scary. I'm willing to bet that if i met @Chef, i would think he was a pretty good guy. I have met @Splitearand he is a good guy.

I had every intention of getting the vaccine a year ago when they became available. I was glad my parents got their vaccine just because of their age. I just wanted to take a wait and see approach. A few months to see what happens with it all. The longer the vaccine has been available, the more i dislike it and the less it seems it will do for me. You can't find a single thing on what the side effects are. There are side effects to Advil so there has to be some. The constant push for a leaky vaccine also gives me pause. Overall,  I am happy i took the wait and see approach so far. Maybe someday that will be the wrong decision. But it was my decision and not one i want to be forced in to just to maintain a normal life. I can't understand how some can't see that, but i guess that is your choice, just like i made mine.

True Post. But you see the guy you mentioned in your post is the guy that does not support you having your choice so you can lead a normal life. He agrees with the 100% left and wants everyone mandated to take the poke. If your normal life does not include going into many businesses and wearing a mask the next 3 years then you should be fine. I don’t have anymore of a problem with Chef then I do with so fools in my own family circles. I have idiots deep in my tree that believe Biden is doing a good job. Trust me when I say it was much quieter last thanksgiving dinner.

I appreciate this post very much. I think that the temperature in this country sure does need to come down a few notches… I also find it funny that people on this forum think I’m a lefty. If anything I find my self right of center on 80% of issues.

As far as getting along I’m sure we would 100% I have easily met 25 members in person and have gotten along with them all. It’s really sad what these covid threads have done to the forum. I’ve been on here about 10 years now and it kind of reminds me of some of the earlier infighting we had.

Simple, people think you are a lefty because you voted for the most left leaning administration in History. Harris's voting record is more left than Bernie Sanders who is an admitted socialist. If you didn't think this would be a liberal administration, you weren't reading between the lines very well. Thank goodness there are 2 sane democrats left in the world with Manchin and Senima blocking most of the stuff that would absolutely ruin this country. There is nothing right of center with this administration. Now if you took a step back and said whoa, i really screwed the pooch with this debacle of an administration like a substantial amount of his voting block according to his poll numbers. It would lead to more credibility with you supposedly being right leaning. But you don't, you double down, every time. So it would be common sense for us to think you like these lefty policies and thus......well you know...

Now that being said. I have never not been one that can't be friends with someone with opposing views. I will admit that I am finding that harder and harder to accomplish the more these left leaning policies effect my wallet and daily choices. There are a lot of people on here that probably can't be friends with someone with opposing views and that is sad, but this last year has showed me why that is the case. You wouldn't open your friends wallet and take money out of it when they aren't looking. Well that is what every single person that voted for this administration has done to me and every other member of this forum no matter which way you lean.  Is that a friend or a foe?

I still like to think i could go fishing or hunting with you and enjoy it. I really hope i can keep that up. I guess we'll see.

Chef , with all due respect, your claim would be alot more convincing if you didnt appear to be such  a staunch defender of the Biden administration and everything the dems do.  For example, you said earlier that you support a voter ID requirement , yet refuse to acknowledge that the Voter rights bill  is bull%&#@ after also admitting that NOONE has been denied the right to vote in the past election due to their skin color.  Its a red herring im telling you!!

I did the same earlier when you brought up ther example of Trump referring to Biden as "Sleepy Joe" and I agreed w you.  I loved Trump as our President, thought he did a magnificent job , liked most everything he did , but I didnt like that- youre right.  That, although humorous and probably true, is also increibly disrespectful, insulting and unPresidential.  I admit that.  Can you do the same in regards to either Biden or the Dems?

Hahaha I did say I do not support the current voting rights legislation in it’s entirety but did give some examples of things going on I do not like that need fixing.

I don’t generally defend Biden on anything.. I do defend my choice in voting for him.

Also the only things I support are basic public health measures…. I don’t support band of fossil fuel and all that crap

Same. Only time I’ve worn a mask in the past 10-12 months was my annual physical (they handed me one) and my second vaccine shot (they handed me one). They didn’t make me wear one the first shot. If a store requires it, we just go elsewhere.

I can say good things happened in my life the last year under this administration.  One I got another beautiful granddaughter. This year my wife had to have her appendix removed, and that was successful. Family life has been pretty darn good.

Also even with inflation and lack of supplies,  I made the most money I ever have in a year. So there is that. I understand cost of living went up, but so did my income.

The doom and gloom coming from the media is unhealthy. To be honest the media says my life should be upside down with all the caius in the world, but it is going pretty good. Focusing on what is within in my control has been treating me well lately.

Good for you and your growing family, but now they'll be able to take all of that money you earned, to pay for the free money they've been handing out to other new yorker's that are getting paid not to work and of course, the gorilla in the room, inflation, which has reached it's highest rate in four decades.

Unfortunately, your grandchildren and maybe your great great grandchildren will be paying for the mess this administration is making.

This is generational Doom and Gloom.

No matter how good the economy is doing now, the other boot will be dropping soon and it's not going to be pretty.

Without the Fed and China pumping money into NY, NY would be the next Atlantis.

Still, Someone is going to have to pay and most likely it'll be you and other New yorker's that could now be considered wealthy because of the profits they made.

We'll have to wait and see what the brain surgeons in Albany will do to adjust the Tax bracket laws before jumping to conclusions, but they've never been kind to taxpayers in the past, so it might be beneficial for you to invest in some Vaseline to ease the pain.

Continued success in your business and good health to your Family.

It has been doom and gloom for my entire adult life, since Clinton. But here we are, still doing fine, house,a few acres, 2 cars in driveway, heat, electric, running water, cupboards full, multiple tvs, ect.  And toilet paper.

The other day All in the family was on. It made me chuckle to hear the political arguments between Archie, and Meathead. Literally the same as today, 40 years later.

But somehow things work out, and the world goes on.

Yeah in reality you probably didn’t make more Jack when it costs you twice as much to live. Family would have been family regardless who was in the house really. But nobody can deny life for most Americans were better under Trump and his rules compared to Biden and his. And it’s hard to not believe that you have 3 more years of spending more of that extra money you now have, twice as much in some cases.

No, reality I did make more. Now the value of the dollar is less, but 2 is more than 1 so? You wanted to know positives, and I gave you some.

I believe perceptions changed with presidents, but life is pretty much the same. Covid started with trump, shutdowns occurred, overspending,  free money, masks, mandates, riots, power grabs ect. Biden continues to do the same. Only change is how it is perceived.

My perception is the only thing I can control, not any of their actions. Why allow things beyond your control worry you?  Enjoy life, it's short.

Well, I hope your perception doesn't believe your life is good BECAUSE Biden became President.  You are currently doing well in spite of this man, but I am sure would've been doing much better if Trump was President.  In the past, many people were doing well, so they neglected to watch for danger approaching and wound up going over the waterfall they never saw coming.  The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.  You can still have a positive attitude when you are alert to threats.

More proof the world's ruling class has been deceiving citizens about what is required to end the pandemic.  When those who assume they rule over you, do not follow the constraints they put on you, you are being ruled and controlled so they can test how much you will accept.

Johnson Grapples with Partygate

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is grappling with an internal revolt within his own Conservative Party amid reports he flouted lockdown rules throughout the pandemic. Referred to as "Partygate" in the press, the criticism focuses on a string of work parties held at government offices in late 2020 and early 2021, despite public prohibitions on large gatherings at the time. Johnson has also been accused of misleading officials about the events.

Let's be clear about something here.  If you say you voted for Biden, but didn't vote for this, you are either saying your were completely uninformed and clueless about the man you voted for and what he would do, or you are trying to excuse yourself for voting for it.

We were all warned what Biden would do if he were to be installed in the White House.  He promised to raise taxes, shut down the XL pipeline, cancel drilling contracts, massively increase spending and the National Debt, (which is the cause of inflation) attack 2nd Amendment rights and much more.  If you voted for him, you voted for all of that and cannot deny it.  (Unless you want to claim ignorance)

People need to stop listening to politicians telling them what they will do FOR us, (which they never do btw) and start grilling them on what they plan to do TO us if elected (which they avoid like the plague).

This is so reasonable and thoughtful that I had to read it twice.

I can only imagine what life is like at the old rattler/grouse homestead.

"Honey, why are you on the roof?"

"Eternal vigilance, babe. Eternal vigilance."

"Okay, honey, don't forget to turn the light off when you come to bed."

My life is good because of my actions based on opportunities presented for me. I will take credit for my life, both good and bad.

I think America was better off with Trump, then with Biden, but my daily life is the same. Blaming others is an excuse for failure.

Too much worrying about others is unhealthy.
