Hochul eyes a multi-pronged plan to stem gun violence

Nothing really changes with our politicians.  It is “People Violence”, not “Gun Violence”.  Sad how the article does not state how Governor Hochul will honestly address the root causes of “People Violence”.  “Community Programs” are nice, but only if both the youths and their parents are involved and supporting these activities. A “Jobs Program” is good, but only if the youths accept the fact they must be disciplined, conscientious, responsible, willing to learn, dedicated and maintain a good attitude when employed.  So while I agree with those ideas, they still need to deal with the “People Violence” problems caused mostly by illegal drugs, the failed mental health system failing to institutionalize the violently mentally ill, the failure to keep violent sociopaths incarcerated for life and the lack of people being civilized.  Otherwise the “People Violence” problem will persist.

The article states "New Yorkers tell me that they don’t feel safe, that they don’t like what they see on the streets and that things feel different right now – and not for the better," Hochul said in her State of the State address.”

How about New York State stop being so restrictive with concealed carry?  How about New York State have better laws to protect the victims exercising their right to self-defense?  How about New York State repeal useless “gun control” laws like the SAFE Act.

The article states “The governor wants the state to staff a team of analysts that focus on monitoring social media posts, particularly among young people, to "tie information back to existing criminal investigations, initiate new investigations and communicate information on threats to appropriate field personnel."

So “The governor wants the state to staff a team of analysts that focus on monitoring social media posts.”  Will the “team of analysts” consist of gun haters who believe that firearms should be prohibited and/or restricted as the answer to “People Violence” as opposed to attacking the real problems leading to “People Violence”?

The Gov is focusing on the tired old leftist idea of "preventative law", where you may be considered guilty of potentially committing a crime because others have committed crimes.

The focus needs to be on removing from society, people who have actually committed crimes!

What sense does it make to  monitor the entire population if criminals won't be jailed for crimes?
