I rarely used to, but I often wear a mask outdoors now. Especially during the bow season and Spring turkey season. I also wear a fleece mask when it's cold outside sometimes, when it's 0* with the wind even my beard doesn't keep my face warm. I'm none of the things you mention, and the day I eat a soy burger is the day the Hell freezes over. Most of us wear masks while hunting, so I guess then many of us have to leave. Just a note on that last part, then all that will be left are music videos and politics. Wait.....................................

If you are wearing non hunting related face tampons outdoors leave this forum!!!

That place is dumpster fire. It’s actually quite frightening to think those people are walking around in the midst of us

I don't think this place would be any better if we didn't have the heavy handed mods we do......... :)

I can't recall ever wearing a tampon, but I'm not into all that crazy crap like eating Tide Pods either.

There is ZERO moderation at 24 Hour Campfire.   Anything goes……..

If we had one post called “ Dumpster Fire” and ALL political posts and raunchy crap went there wee could easily enjoy or ignore it. The numerous posts about the same topics clogs the unread section on tapatalk

Belo- The Deer,Bow,+ Crossbow Forums are all still active....

I certainly  am not saying anything against that.

Let People Post where they want. Live + let live.

of course, i think I said as much. But it was you who pointed out the lack of traffic to your posts. I'm not trying to upset you or piss in your cheerios, simply pointing out the seasonality and of course popularity of the 2. I don't know what the stats are, but whitetails are just exponentially more popular in NY than turkeys.

I looked it up out of curiosity,

Turkey tags sold:

152k

Bowhunting

154k (there are more archery tags sold than turkey)

Muzzleloader

169k (there are more mz tags sold than turkey)

Hunting (this is a tough one as it includes bear and small game)

331k

So yes it's impossible to break out how many deer vs turkey hunters there are, but the stats do favor the deer hunter. I myself am a small game, deer and turkey hunter albeit only in the spring. I love all for what they are, I have no beef with you on the topic but I find your struggle to understand why you don't get more traffic to be naïve to the popularity of the sports.

I'll use music as an example. You and many others may favor 80's rock as your genre of choice. Right now 80's rock is not tearing up the charts. It's k-pop and ariana grande and hip hop. We don't have to like that music to accept that it's popular than the music we prefer right?

PS I spent my sunday scouting for a new turkey blind setup and cutting a trail to it. The itch is starting as it usually does towards the end of may. Last year I learned to pur with a diaphragm and I plan to get better at it. I'll probably pop back into oldgobbler soon. I was pretty active there for a while and then there were some forum changes and I lost interest.

It's all gravy man

If wild turkeys tasted better, they would be hunted a lot harder and the turkey section would get more action.

I think I am with you on that. I think most people only eat the breast meat but I could be wrong.....again

I enjoy wild turkey. It's not the same as a butterball, the same as a venison stake isn't kobe beef. I have cooked several whole birds and I've done just the breast. I do struggle with how much extra work the whole bird is vs the reward. There's just not a lot of good edible meat in the legs.

No- you are right. A mature Gobbler has Tough Red meat- slow Twitch muscle  Fibers. The Breast would be White or Fast Twitch.  Better tasting. I don't  eat the Legs anymore.

Belo- you dont have to read any of my Fall Turkey Threads.  Scroll on past Man- they are not for you. I really have no time to answer your constant Quotes. You might have to pick a new Dance partner.

I don’t think that’s true at all, I eat more pounds of wild Turkey a Year than I do venison and spend more time in the deer woods than over 95% of deer hunters. It may be hard for you to understand but there is way more to hunting than the meat.

sigh... I think that's what most do Bill. Hence your lack of action. That's all I was saying, no need to get so defensive. It was you who brought it up, not me.

How?

3 birds a year I’m figuring has to be around 10lbs of breast meat. I haven’t eaten 10lbs if venison in the last 2 years and I’ve killed 11 deer. I give my deer away to land owners and family.

I raise black angus and much prefer that to venison, per lb I can eat my angus for way cheaper than I put into a lb of venison.
