In those new regulations it says two trout over 12” does that mean the other three have to be under 12”? Or am I reading it wrong.

I read it as any up to 5 fish under 12". But can only have 2 over 12.

I won't complain about a 5 fish limit. I still wish they had done a slot limit to help improve size a bit and focus harvest more on the smaller fish but oh well... I just hope that in 3 years we haven't put too big of a dent in the walleyes either. Time will tell I guess.

I am leaning more to that slot limit too. Agree with you on the population. Hope it keeps up. Wish they went to 4 rods per person instead of 3 would've been nice. Can't wait to get out.

I'm not fully convinced this weather is going to last too long, I've been real tempted to get the boat de-winterized lately though. I'll probably wait another week or two, then it'll be time to get her wet and do some trolling on the fingerlakes and the big O.

The 8-14 day forecast is for above average temps. But always hate to risk frozen and broken things. The ice on the lake after tomorrows rain ought to be about gone. Probably gonna be an early walleye spawn.

But I am planning on charging the.boat batteries tomorrow, just cause.

Yea a buddy and I were on Onondaga today in his boat, there was one sheet of ice left in a corner of the lake. We were also thinking things may be ahead of schedule this year if this weather keeps up.

Doesn’t that lead to culling problems. If someone has two 13” fish and catches a 21” they’d toss one of the 13’s.

Shouldn't be any different from a limit of bass or other game fish, and releasing a smaller one for a larger catch.

Trout reg’s the 5 with no more than 2 over 12in’s has been that way in most places I fish for a long time. As for bass I start fishing as early as late April I just do catch and release so the start date won’t matter to me.

I worked on my boat a little bit this morning.  I am wiring my pole barn, and it is stowed right under where I wanted an overhead light.  Rather then try and move the boat, I set up an extension ladder inside of it.  After lunch, I am going to get out on my camper (makes a great scaffold), and finish up the last high overhead light.

What size barn? You build it or a local company?

The main building is 36’ x 50’ with 12’ wall.  It has (2) 10’ x 25’ porches, (1) of which I am eventually going to enclose, then add another 10’ x 25’ porch to the back of it (for firewood storage).

My buddy put up the shell (Stockade building), in 2018, and I am finishing the interior (when I have time).  This barn is replacing (2) 36’ x 46’ x 16’ barns that my great great grandfather built in 1883.  I dismantled the one that was on the site of this barn, and repurposed much of the original post and beams and old American chestnut lumber for interior loft and shops.

I am plugging away at dismantling the second old barn, and hope to be done with that by fall.  The other one had to go, before I could build this new barn, but there is no great hurry, to get the second one down.

The “18” , up inside the peak, is from great great grandpa’s old barn (that is still barely standing) and I tried to match the text with a jigsaw, to make the “20”. You can still see a little bit of the old “83” siding board stuck up there under the peak on the old barn.
