  1. Man, i'm going through trail cam withdrawl. I have my deer cams out in 4 locations but had to take in the homebrew creek cams again as rain threatens flooding. I've hardly had them out in the last 2 weeks and I don't ever recall going through a period like this. I hate missing the action. Hopefully we will see the sun again sometime soon. Here are some pics from a few weeks back:
  2. I gotcha, kinda like "are those real ?" . . ;D
  3. I saw this deer during a turkey hunt 2 weeks back and put a Bushnell Trophy cam in there. I originally thought it was a doe but after checking the card yesterday it turns out to be a young buck.
  4. awesome group of pics there. the strutting tom pictures are fantastic, as are the grouse. great catches and very well done!
  5. here is a little slideshow movie I put together featuring my best trail cam pictures from the last 3 years (2008-2010). hope you enjoy it. best when watched in full screen by clicking the lower right hand corner.
  6. Read your signature at the bottom and a while back I thought of the same thing. Mine was just a little different with:"got my toes in some Mucks" and "a Bowtech in my hands". ver cool! Personally, I like a stabilizer. Not only does it aid in your hold, it also helps with your follow through which is very important.
  7. got lucky this past saturday here in New York. here is a pic and video that describes the hunt. It was my 1st bird with a bow and I was thrilled and now oficially addicted to bowhunting turkeys.
  8. Way to persevere; congrats!
  9. You keep comparing record bucks to regular bucks. I did the logical thing and compared them to other record book bucks. Try comparing them to each other for a change as that has been the point that I have tried to make but you have ignored it.Why not look at some pictures of these record book bucks and notice that the brow gaps are all similar except for the alleged Rompola buck which looks nothing like others in the same class.
  10. I have seen deer show interest in gut piles, sometimes putting their face and mouth into them. Baiting?
  11. never said it had anything to do with scoring. It just obvious that this gap is nowhere near any other record class bucks. Now combine that with the fact that all 200+ plus bucks have similar gaps except for only this one which is in a separate ballpark entirely. Just look at the picture and how the brow spread brings the ears into play. No other giant buck looks like this. Looks freakishly unnatural.
  12. Yes, record book bucks have an abundance of genetic similarities, and the one outstanding similarity they all share is the gap between the browtines. Measure that gap on 200 plus bucks such as Jordan and Hanson and you will find a similar gap between the browtines that fall well short of this Rampola "buck".; and I mean not even in the same universe. Actually the alleged Rompola buck blows every other record buck in history off the charts with respect to this distinguishing characteristic. That alone defies all else and simply could be a longer shot than is genetically possible for a whitetail deer. No one else even comes close and that doesn't sound right in the world of "giant" deer where the norm is one animal being fractions ahead of the other. The Rompola takes a giant step in this category where the norm is also fractional. For me, that math just doesn't add up.
  13. Yes, I did raise an eyebrow when I read that "placing food scraps" part, but did not comment on it. The article has the liberty of selectively deciding which photo they care to talk about and which they will not. We don't know what the rest of the photos revealed, we only have limited info on what was choosen to be discussed. The part that you are debating here that is unclear to me involves the key words "attracting" and "accessible". Any food scrap unless secured out of reach could be considered accessible. At the same time a food scrap locked away under a can could also attract an animal by scent and be unaccessible. Whether or not a food scrap attracted the animal to that location is also up for debate. Do both have to be true to be in violation of law and how do you prove the attracting part? I think we need to further define accessible. Do we define accessible as any bait that has the ability to attract? Deer are very curious animals and I have witnessed them being attracted to the flash of my trailcams; many coming in closer and closer each time until they were right on top of the camera. If a food scrap existed at this location that a deer had no interest in, then what? There appears to be some real grey area here.
  14. begs the question: why no other record bucks with genetics that come even close to that brow gap?
  15. yep, my first of the year herons just showed up as well ealier this week.
  16. read the arcticle; agree and dissagree on some points. agree: that this sport is addictive dissagree: 1) "They're awesome cameras and so fast I actually catch birds flying by," he said.(reffering to Cuddeback) that's bull. I bird can be caught but another bird triggered the unit first. 2) "The better trail cams use subtle infrared technology rather than an incandescent flash that can spook animals away." Also far from the truth. I have both infrared and white flash and there is no contest. My best quality units all use white flash. I have yet to see a infrared or black flash camera that is even close to whilte flash units for image quality.
  17. the distance between the browtines screams fake. no other record deer has such a gap between the brows.
  18. call the Knicks; I think this one can dunk.
  19. got these on Monday from a new Sony W290 "brew". the camera was a little too far away. funny it was only about 5-6 feet from the deadfall but in the original pics it looks real far,so these pics are all cropped; the last in widescreen mode fits well. I plan on moving the cam a little closer next time.
  20. interesting angle on that picture gives a different perpective. cool
  21. 2nd pic is so good it looks fake. very nice job.
  22. lots of strutting going on there; nice!
