Steve- I hunt public land in NNY. I haven't been hunting them for 20 years so what I consider good flush rates may not be the same as other. But I consistently find birds... not always harvest a bird though. As many know those suckers can be hard to hit.

I love ice fishing. Shame I can't find any ice with these temps

Very Cool!

I agree, I would much rather be fishing for steelies than salmon but after the rain yesterday I couldn't resist hitting the salmon river and seeing what was around. Good bit of salmon pushing into the river, but only managed to land one. Won't be too much longer until the steelies start pushing into the river and creeks

Finally put my trail camera out and pulled the card today. For only having the camera out a little over a week and just on a trail, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of wildlife I caught on camera.
The nicest buck is this one. He hung out in front of the camera half the night, I got a bunch of pictures of him.
A Bear
And a goofy little spike
Also had quite a few pictures of does and raccoons.

I live up here in Jefferson county now. And this past weekend I took a trip down to the west branch of the delaware for some fly fishing. Well it was a great trip a rejuvenated my love for trout fishing with dry flies.
I know I have the Salmon River and such near here which are awesome fisheries (If you can stand the crowds) but don't really get much of a bug hatch. I am curious, are they any streams or rivers in vicinity of Northern NY that get some decent hatches and can be productively fished with dry flies. I imagine there should be some in the ADK, just hoping to find some on the western side of the ADK. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thinking about making a trip down there soon. Done a little steelhead fishing in some smaller creeks with some success this season. Use mostly eggs patterns and trout beads

This will be my first year ice fishing but there is still no ice. Can't wait for it to freeze up

Well today I was fortunate enough to harvest at nice 4pt buck with my bow. He came walking through at 230pm looking for some loving and instead met up with my arrow. It was an awesome hunt. Anyway, I'm new to the area and need a deer processor near watertown ny. Use to just do it my self but my wife gets skived out and won't eat it unless a "professional" does it. For now I'm going to quarter it out and put it in a cooler. Please let me know if you know of any, willing to drive an hour or so.

Got the itch to go out grouse hunting after archery hunting earlier this weekend and had a pair of grouse drumming around my stand all afternoon.
So today I took the dog out and managed to flush 4 grouse and 1 woodcock in about 3 hours. Then went home and through the grouse breast on the grill for lunch. All and all not a bad day

I will be out this fall too. My brother and I are planning on taking one of his setters out to chase grouse around. They really are some fun birds to hunt, much more than stocked pheasant

Anyone going out for the Salmon/steelhead run this fall? Being new to the area I have never done it before but I think I'm going to pick up a 8wt fly rod and give it a whirl. Looks like it cold be a lot of fun.

Those are some impressive numbers, good luck this season

Checked out Butterfield today. About 2 inches of ice with 2 inches of slush and another 1 inch of ice on top. little too sketchy for me.
