  1. Dont know if they still sell birds or not. I know they use to. Empire Game Farm 3720 Rt. 41 Solon, NY 13040 Contact Information W. Douglas Whittaker (607) 836-6620 Main
  2. June was just unreal, it rained 5 days a week it seems. So far we have had only 3 days of rain, possible rain tomorrow and clear skies through Sunday. Farmers are really suffering again. That knee high by 4th of July corn saying, most are lucky corn sprouted and didnt seed rot by the 4th. Hay is going backwards at this point, brown and losing nutrients. Been a big push to get hay cut this week, I know a few that are just going to get it off for bedding since its so brown and hope for a good second cut of hay. Many put it into silage as well. Oats on the other hand is doing extremely well, those who planted it are tickled. Hay and anything related to corn is going to be costly after this.
  3. I could very well be wrong and just going on memory of caping out skulls in the past, but I believe there is a soft bone tissue in place like that middle skull. But it deteriorates rather quickly and when I hit mine with a pressure washer it blew that soft bone/tissue whatever it is right away.
  4. The downturn was there very own creation. China loaned an extreme amount of money to the average citizen who could come up with some capitol to invest, how else did they expect this outcome to be? Hey you come up with 10K to invest and we will give you 50K to add to it. Extremely familiar to some other country who gave out a mortgages to people who couldn't afford the payments just with a different twist.
  5. Not true Grow, we have already had more sunny dry days this month than in June.
  6. With China's stock market crash how long before they come knocking for there money from the US?
  7. A fawns head would be just as big or bigger than the foxs head. I think its carrying a mountain lions head actually.
  8. The toughest part is the broken heart. I thought my daughter dating was tough, man you havent seen tough until you deal with a teenager with a busted heart. Im glad those days are over. Now Im dealing with the oldest boy who is 18 that is worse than any teenage girl I ever seen when it comes to his girlfriend, he brings a whole new meaning to the word P-Whipped. Its just sickening to listen to and see. I will take raising girls over boys any day. Both boys are just absolutely pathetic when it comes to girls.
  9. I would have to say yes its operator error. I still have the original dozen I bought when they came out, what was that 6 or so years ago? I have not bent a single one of them, my guess is some are not pulling them straight out of the target when removing them and bending. Until people use them how can they lay judgement? Are they more expensive, yes but I have not had to buy new carbon arrows all the time like I use too. So in the end I have saved money.
  10. I have been shooting them since the year they came out. They are the longest lasting, hardest hitting arrows I have ever owned. I switched from a lighter carbon arrows and will never ever go back to them. I have killed 7 deer with the same arrow since owning them. You get the best of everything, thin, carbon, metal, and weight to drive your broadhead through your target.
  11. Well if the problem comes back at least its not detrimental to the wallet to fix. Have you seen the prices of new trucks these days?????? YIKES drive it till the wheels fall off and weld them back on and keep driving it more lol. My truck I bought in 2004 is now double the price today for the basic same damn truck. Makes a person sick to his wallet.
  12. The bad plug confuses me a bit, when you did the battery unplug and things ran fine till the computer reset the bad plug still would of been a problem, but instead it ran fine for the short time. Dont want to be negative as I hope its been permanently resolved but I am wondering if the garage reset the codes when the plug was changed. Guess you will know when you complete a drive cycle on it. Im just scratching my head on the diagnosis.
  13. EGR valve or the pipe coming into it may be rusty and have an air leak in it. If its electric EGR valve you can unplug it, you will get an instant check light but if the truck runs smoother you will know its bad. Listen for an air leak in that pipe, if you find one and put your finger over the leak you will instantly notice your engine run smoother, careful though the pipe will be hot if its been running for a bit. I would tend to guess its not your cylinder since you unplug the battery for 30 minutes and things ran smoother, from my understanding all that did was zero out the computer until you went through a complete drive cycle and it self adjusted again. EGR valve, air leak, Mass Air Flow sensor, Map sensor, throttle body or electrical short are all suspect to me. Luckily all fairly inexpensive parts.
  14. Google Stabilitrak Red and you can see its been an on going problem. My parents just got a recall on there chevy car for it. Wifey had a 2010 equinox and we went through problem after problem. Didnt even get to 40k miles and had to have timing chain replaced twice under warranty, oil pan rusted out and started leaking, motor just was terrible on gas. But Chevy doesnt actually make it either. I drive a ton of miles at least 50k a year and after 4 GM company vehicles, 2 Chevy trucks and that equinox I will never ever again for the rest of my life own a Chevy product. Past 2 Dodge trucks have all went 300k miles before replacing and the one I have now is at 225K. Like em or hate em they have been the most dependable vehicles I have ever owned.
  15. Congrats First Light, you may be one on the first Chevy owners to ever break the 150,000 mile marker
  16. Didnt know there was a legal length, on the other hand I have a SOG and I love it, Its in my pocket daily and holds a really sharp edge.

Geez I thought this was a thread about Papist.
  18. Yet the DEC is posing with these. LMAO Guess they are exempt. http://www.syracuse.com/outdoors/index.ssf/2015/05/all-white_sturgeon_netted_by_dec_in_black_river_outdoors_oddities.html#incart_related_stories
  19. Its seems stupid and Im mixed about it. I have seen so many times someone holding a fish for so damn long taking pictures the fish is belly up when they let it go. So many times I have wanted to just slap the idiots. I just say arrest anyone with ZERO common sense to begin with lol.
  20. I am absolutely the wrong guy to ask this question lol. Just picture the golfer with 4 sets of golf clubs and every golf bag couldnt fit one more club in them. I am that guy with fishing poles. For every golf shot there is a club, well im an advocate that same rule goes for fishing. There is a rod and reel for every different species, style of fishing, body of water etc. But then again Im not a leisure type fisherman, I take this stuff serious lol. I am also a hard believer in top quality fishing equipment. I want to buy it once and be done with it for the rest of my life. Top of the line equipment comes with top of the line warranties. Slam a rod in a car door, no problem it gets replaced or repaired under warranty, that alone will save you money over the years and give you confidence in your equipment which will in return give you the confidence to catch fish. I also am anal about multiples of each selection I have, especially when it comes to rods and reels for the boat, I dont want to troll with 6 different rod and reel combos, your presentation will be all over the place and make you scratch your head why one setup with the same line and lure is out producing the other rod next to it. Wife says I have lost my mind, but I dont have 100 pairs of shoes and a dedicated drawer in the vanity with every makeup thing on the shelf at the department store either. Now if I had one Rod and one Rod only it would be 7'6" Fenwick medium action with fast or medium fast action tip with a pflueger 10 bearing 6.2 to 1 Supreme filled with 8 lb flourocarbon on one spool and the spare that comes with it 4lb floruocarbon. With the extra spool that comes with it you can manage the larger walleye on erie and still go after some panfish and even manage the line shy walleye with the nice smooth drag system if need be. Probably 150 for the rod and 100 for the reel. I am also anal about replacing line on a regular basis and that hurts my wallet more than the initial purchase of the equipment. Dont ask about tackle or terminal tackle I will wear my keyboard out. Happy fishing!
  21. Another dismal year and rather discouraging. So many changes are coming for next year. I currently boil on a 3x12 evaporator that has a gallon per hour rate of 150. I will be putting a piggy back/steamaway on the flue pan and I should see numbers of 200 plus gph. I will also be adding a couple more round bottom stainless steel tanks. Im am fortunate that Im a tig welder and a partner in a stainless steel metal fabrication shop specializing in maple production equipment. It saves me thousands of dollars building my own stuff. A steamaway for my rig would cost me 12,000 from a dealer. YIKES. Im also going to double up taps on vac and tubing and at the least hope to have 2000 on line for next year. Im at a crossroads of either cutting back or going bigger. A few more years with seasons like the last 2 and I may have to consider getting out of maple production. Too much work, time and money involved to just break even. Time to start the long cleanup process and then start running more tubing. It's funny cause I had 30 people in my sugarhouse Saturday and the topic came up when syrup season starts, my reply was simple, the day after it ends. There is not a week that goes by throughout the year Im not prepping, repairing, expanding, building or welding something for maple.
  22. You guys are filtering your syrup before canning it right? The only way to determine if you have correct density is with a syrup hydrometer or a very expensive refractometer. What will get you close but not perfect is calibrate a thermometer in a pot of boiling water, look at the temp and record it. The boiling temp of water will change daily and sometimes several times a day, this is why I say "CLOSE". Once you have the temp off boiling water when your syrup reaches 7 degrees above the boiling point of water you have syrup. If your under it will ferment in time, if your over it will crystalize like rock candy in your container. Now if you go way over you start making all sorts of neat confections with it. If you go over desired temp you can dilute it with more sap or water. Also if you have a jar that has turned to sugar you can reheat and add water or sap to get the density right on target. However the easiest and most accurate way is buy a syrup hydrometer for about 15 dollars.
  23. Yep this week should be good, hope the snow doesnt all melt and extends the season. I expect to pull at the least 6000 gallons of sap and make 120 gallons this week. Fingers crossed and hope there is 20000 more gallons of sap right behind it.
