Shot this buck this morning (Sunday) at 8:15 am.

I got the M-100 from Moultrie this summer. I had it out for 10 days before the LCD screen stopped working and the camera froze up. I sent it back to moultrie and it took 6 weeks to get it back. Their customer service is terrible. I called and complained pretty much every week until they finally took care of it. It takes great pictures. I have had a WGI camera out at the same time and it has worked wonderfully. If I had it to do over I would have gotten the Cuddeback.

I shoot with a gun in every photo. I have complete confidence in my gun and ammo to make a clean kill with a gun. With a bow I shoot in photos 1 and 3. I pass with a bow on 2 and 4.

I agree. I don't want to hunt anywhere near someone that is drinking in the woods. I mean, what's the point, just wait until the hunt is over geesh.

I agree. Black Bears are way more afraid of us than we are of them (well most of us). One of the guys hunting the property next to mine shot a bear a few years ago, before it was legal, he tried to claim self-defense. The DEC did not believe his story. Double lunging the bear did not help. He lost his license for a few years.

I will be in my stand by 6:45am and will be getting out at 9:30am. It's waaaaaaaaay too early in the year to sit all day. Then I will be back in the tree by 4:00pm to sit for the evening.

I have planned my vacations with what Charlie Alsheimer has to say every year. He is right on the money with his predictions. He is able to do his research in Alfred/Hornell area right here in NY.

Yeah but if anyone mentions that they put apples or corn out to get some pictures on their trailcams the baiting police show up to tell you that you can't bait in NYS. But if you have the money to plant a "food plot" then it isn't considered baiting...what a bunch of BS.

Well you didn't say anything about 2am. You just said that anyone spotting land that doesn't belong to them is up to no good. However, I do agree that someone spotting at 2am is certainly someone to be suspicious of. I like to spot later in the evening as opposed to as soon as it gets dark though because you don't have 14 other vehicles out spotting the same fields that you are.

I used thunderhead 100's for the last15 years. This year I am switching and trying out the Rage 2 blade. They fly great and I have seen some of the damage that they can do.

You do realize that deer (especially bucks during the rut) do not stay on one persons property. So why wouldn't I want to see what is in the "area"? The vast majority of ppl that spot, do so legally. To think that anyone that spots deer on property that doesn't belong to them is "up to no good" is ascinine.

I have hunted over scrapes for years. I usually put two/three at varied distances around my stands. I have used dominant buck lure in the beginning of the season and switch to doe in heat as it gets close to november. I have found that making large scrapes increases the chances of bucks checking them out...especially during the rut. I don't think they bring bucks to your stand...but it will make a buck that is trolling in the area come over to investigate and present you with a good shot opportunity.

Our "club" draws cards on the night before opening day. High card gets first pick for the morning hunt. Last pick moves up to first for the evening choice of stands and everyone else moves down. Seems like if everyone paid the same amount of money to hunt the property...everyone should have the same opportunity to hunt stands.
