  1. Steady at about 30 here. Peak gust 66mph up by the Lake
  2. Scorza certainly has the Rochester and beyond Reputation but i must say that i've met just as many unhappy customers of his as i have happy ones. Not sure why that is, just sayin'. I have a diamond in the ruff taxidermist who i would put up against anyone in the area. Dave Parnell out of Caledonia. He's done at least 20 mounts for friends and family, including my profile pic. He'll probably be in the $350 range and he will personally do your mount. Also i have had most of my mounts back by Valentines day. Give me a PM if you are interested..
  3. Move those pins as stated, then do as Doc suggested but make your aiming point about 1/3 the size of that yellow spot. (maybe 2" in diameter) At 20 yrds indoors, your goal should be consistently hitting those small targets. Remember, aim small - miss small..
  4. Muck, can't believe how casual you told that sory. Thats a great looking mature 8 pointer. And great job on the photo also. I've found that i get more enjoyment from the photo's then i do the mounts. And that picture is fantastic.. Great job.
  5. I never seem to be able to get my wife to watch those rack rubbin' videos. How do you do it MT..
  6. Sam, Another great video. You are really using all the tricks. Great job.
  7. Yea it looks like we're all going to get slapped but i really hope the flooding doesn't wack those same folks that got it from Irene. I fear it may even be worse then that. And all you Islanders, you are going to have a wild couple days. Stay safe ya'll..
  8. I tried to tell you guys not to take this week for vacation..LOL
  9. Fisher, all i can say is keep plugging but don't hunt harder, hunt smarter. I'm pulling for you Bro.. Your efforts will be rewarded and when they are, you can give yourself a big pat on the back. And then we'll give you a few more.. Good luck.
  10. Thats a beauty Meat. Love all the junk on his headgear. Man he will look good on your living room wall. Go get em'.
  11. Wheelie, i agree and would even take your statement even further. I would say that the majority of hunters have never even really experienced the true frantic chase phase rut. To many hunters, when they see a couple bucks locking horns or a basket 8 running willy nilly after a doe in a bean field, they think the rut is here. But when the real thing kicks off, if your in the right place, you will be standing for hours on end in your stand and your head will be on a swivel as you watch mature bucks come through one after the next. Thats what the RUT looks like. Today is the 26th and it's getting more active by the day. It's actually a great time to shoot a big buck because the big ones are not wasting their energy running around but they are cruisin' bedding areas and downwind of field edges right now.
  12. Great buck Jeff. Caledonia is always good for a few big bucks every year. Way to go. And great shot on that nice doe Cop. Congrats
  13. Your right Shawn. He did say that in one of his original posts but i got the impression he didn't really have a good grasp on how this stuff works when he posted that. Maybe he could reply back and let us know if he has re-thought that part yet. I don't think he will find anyone willing to sign on to a lease that is not exclusive. Who in their right mind would plunk down $2000 if there was a chance he was going to take someone elses money a week later and let them on the property as well..?? Doesn't make sence. He should just set a price, find someone willing to pay it, and then let them figure out how many hunters their going to have and how the cost is going to be split up.
  14. Thats $8640 per year for 800 acres. This offer is 313 acres for 3 guys or $670 per man.
  15. I agree to a point sits in trees about having embasy's in those hell holes, BUT if we have them there, and americans are serving their country by being there, then we damn well better make sure we have someone capable of keeping them safe... Not some group of local's in the back of a 1992 Nissan pick-up truck for gods sake.. And i'm not sure you understand the seriousness of having an ambassidor killed. 30 yrs since this happened. Those Americans deserved to have someone try to help them.. I know you would have tryed if you had the power.
  16. Newbreed, yes that deer will certainly have deductions when it is scored but usually when we debate scores, we are talking about gross inches. Actually that is the way i refer to all deer i see while hunting as well. The net score is what is needed if your lucky enough to put one in the book. (P & Y or B & C or NYS Big Buck Club) North East Big Buck club does take gross score only i believe. But for these fun little threads we are basically wondering how many inches of bone does he have on his head.??
  17. Bubba, good for you in sharing your turf with friends and family. Often times land owners and particularly food plot guys get labeled as greedy, deer hoarders that buy up land and then lock it up so they have it all to themselves. Your example is by far what i see more often then not. On the property i help manage, we have had new hunters out for the past four years in a row. Each has harvested deer and are now hooked for life in the sport. We also have put a couple older hunters in some of our easier stands because they just can't get around like they used to. Both those gentlemen also shot deer. By the way, although we try to shoot mature deer, we put no restrictions when these folks come out. Like you said, the smiles on their faces is awesome.
  18. I hear you Biz. Long way to drive.. Onieda, either you have a very good deal or i mis understood what you were saying. Is the lease $ 750 per person, with twelve people chipping in that amout each. If that is the case then it would seem in line. If its $750 for the whole group then you should lock that in for life..LOL I'm guessing it's the first case. No??
  19. Ton of props to you once again Woodsman.. I never get tired of seeing that picture..
  20. Here is my Polaris Sportsman 400. It's under that buck somewhere. Sure has had a lot of blood spilled on her..
  21. If i were you, i would put the camera in your truck and leave it there. It's the last week in Oct. and those does are not going to stand for your mistakes. As Predate stated, the deer activity and movement are going to be getting really unpredictable and even if you got something on film, it's not going to help you one bit on the day you hunt. Go out and see whats happening and adjust if you have to. Find terrain features like funnels or ridge crossings or edge of thick cover or swamp edges and just hunt. Or set up on those acorns. But forget the camera. This is no time to be screwing around with pictures in your hunting area...!!!
  22. Funny stuff Lawdwaz, Congrats on that nice Doe. It sure does make things alot easier when it's in the 20's when you shoot em' though doesn't it. You can just hang em' up and work on the meat when you get around to it. Not so in these temps though..
  23. LOL just pulling your chain a bit Joe. Your logic is pretty solid. guess mizro is going to have to kill that deer and let us know. I don't want to sound like a antler snob but that deer gets a pass by me for one more season.. At least thats what i say sitting here in my living room. When they waltz past your stand though, it's sometimes hard to do when your brain is saying SHOOT-HIM, SHOOT-HIM.. LOL
