  1. Way to go Ant.. I also shoot and love the montecs but i agree with erussell in that you have to be confident with whats on the shaft. Your great success today should help a bunch with that. Congrats

    Bow shops

Bulls eye archery is on 5 &20 in Bloomfield. Thats only 20 minutes from Naples. I don't use them for my most technical problems but they are certainly more then capable if you need something taken care of in a pinch or if you have something break and need a new accessory while your in the middle of the season.
  3. Don't get impatient Larry.. Your playing it smart by sitting where the wind is best and it has payed off for you so far. Your not getting busted and your seeing deer. Remember, its still very early. Normally we wouldn't even be hunting yet so the best is yet to come.. Hopefully you will get the wind right soon for your best stand so you can get to those cams and hopefully gt a chance at one of those bucks..
  4. Apparently our economy is so bad here under BO that even the Mexicans are going home.. By the way they are also leaving something else in big #'s. The democrat party. Even they are sick of their immoral political stances and their total lack of what liberty and freedom in America means. Not only to Americans but to the world. We are the light on the hill.. The last great place on earth.. Collectivism cannot co-exist with individual freedom. They are mortal enemies, sworn to destroy each other. So pick one because you can't have both. And as we all know, gun rights are the cornerstone of the feedoms we have. It's an issue that the Dems don't dare touch and so it's been quiet lately but there is no debating what they would do to our second amend. if they could. So again make your choice you left leaners. Oh and the Fed govt is really great and running these deptartments and programs aren't they? I'm sure they will do a wonderful job at running health care..
  5. maybe a traffic light at these crossings with a button that the deer could push before they cross would help.
  6. About an hr. ago i posted a thank you to Doc for sharing some insight into those early bow days. I posted that on that 50 yrd. thread. I wish i had read this first or that i could move my post over here but i don't know how so i will simply say this to Doc. You da man. Good stuff..
  7. Doc, not that i wish to be any older then i am, i do wish i could have experienced those early bowhunting times. They say that we are living in the best times to be a bowhunter but the way you described those simple days, sure sounds appealing. Now-a-days you get the pleasure of listening to snot nose know it alls like myself who you would think invented this great sport. LOL.. Thanks for putting things into perspective for some of us..
  8. What a hoot that must of been Larrry.. Those are the kind of days we remember for a long time..
  9. Welcome to the site and looking forward to hearing some stories and helpful advice from a 30 yr veteran of the hunt.. The deer are great in 8 right Phade..
  10. Could not agree more with the Muck lovers. There are a few good rubber boots out there but these are the gold standard of rubber boots..
  11. OK, i cut you some slack on your first post but the more you open your mouth, the more rediculous you sound. Now i guess your going to dazzle us with some trophy stories. Please save us the boring details. Hit up the xxx sites if you want to have a "mine is bigger then yours" discussion..
  12. I apologize if i mis-understood your statement or that i wasn't aware of your experience but i think you said something that was interesting. You said "i feel the numerous factors at that distance work against me." Those are your words right? You also said you don't condone the shot unless it's a booner. In other words, your against shooting 50 yrds at does, but your for shooting 50 yrds at Booners. I think you could have phrased that better and it would have saved some mis-understanding because it still sounds bad to me.. At any rate, i think i got it now. Thanks
  13. Through out history, there is no doubt you are correct. And maybe even today ground hunters are more successful then stand hunters but i'm skeptical. Do you think maybe you could start a thread where the successful hunters can report if they were on the ground or in the trees? I think it would be an intresting poll. I would do it myself but not sure how to insert a poll into the thread.
  14. I hunt for trophies, and i don't have a problem with experienced hunters taking long shot, but i think this comment sucks.. If it's a booner you'll fling one and hope it lands?? Now thats selfish.
  15. Geez Phade, Did you 2 guys have a candlelight, tenderloin dinner that night also..LOL Enough with the sappy love story..
  16. Where i hunt, i cant see in the farmers daughters bedroom from the ground so i use my climber.
  17. By the way, i agree completely with Lawdwaz. There really is no good reason to be taking 50 yrd shots. And it sounds like your a bit of a novice at this hunting thing so lets get real and get one under your belt at 15 yrds first. Of course even a novice could hit a doe the size of an elk cow at 50 yrds.. LOL
  18. Hunters have been killing animals at 50 yrds since practically the beginning of bow hunting time. There is no special piece of equiptment needed, all you need is to be able to hit that vital area with every shot and every practice shot. Become an absolute fanatic with whatever equiptment you own and hone your skills until this shot becomes a gimme. Then practice some more.
  19. Could very well be scrapes. They are definetly working the dirt on my hunting turf.
  20. Great job fellas.. Congrats to all.. Sam. Are you going to tell us what broadhead you used? I'll guess it a Rage 2 blade..??
  21. I hunt almost exclusively from the trees but we always set up a few ground blinds and i must admit that on those rainy or nasty days where many don't bother to get out of bed, they are awesome. Its almost like a little vacation to get in there when its raining, and spread all your gear out and fidget and eat and stretch and sleep.... And still be..well..technically hunting. I only have a limited amount of time to hunt and i'm going to the woods rain or shine so ground blinds will always be part of my plans.
  22. Man, you are not allowed to leave your property again until you put an arrow through that beauty buck...
  23. Sorry to hear about the camera Doc.. Hope he falls from his tree stand but is saved from hitting the ground when his ball sack gets caught on a tree step..
