  1. There is no question, I will be in the woods the last week of Oct. It may actually be easier to kill a buck at that time because they will be out checking their turf,(does turf) usually just cruisin' through checking scent, so they often times can be stopped or called into a shot. But i just happen to be lucky enough to have a hot piece of chasing grounds that when it is frantic, it will mean multiple sightings, all day long. It's frantic and never easy to kill but i would rather play the odds and hope that one of the big bucks make a 25yrd mistake. Just don't mess up the does leading up to that time.

    Who would

Doc, i'm not sure if i agree with that but of course we will never know. My feeling is with Woodsman. The reason being, you claim that mature does are getting more of a free pass and that is why they are less weary and more visable. I think there is a flaw in that statement. Here in many parts of NY, anything with a tail is getting shot at and the does are just as aware of the dangers as the Mature Bucks, but they have other obligations and must travel more during daylight hours then Bucks because of that.(protection of offspring) Remember, they also have to worry about the preditors at night, that bucks do not. This also puts does and fawns on their feet more during daylight. Just as mature bucks are distracted during the rut and therefore volnurable during that short time, Does are distracted to some degree almost year round and certainly for the majority of the hunting season. I believe to some degree hunters like to tell themselves that mature does are harder to hunt then mature bucks because it makes them feel like they accomplished something special. Which it is, but lets not make it more then it is. Their both pretty dang smart.
  3. My thoughts exactly Phade. I am a big Charles A fan. Deer management, property management, deer behavior and of course his photography are just amazing. However i have never found his moon phase predictions to be helpful in hunting decisions. Not saying they haven't hit the mark some times, just saying im not convinced in the science. Gestation and past experience puts me in the woods later in the first week of Nov. for the intense rut activity. The 6th and 7th seem to be my sweet spot, regaurdless of weather conditions. Also not convinced warmth delays mature bucks. Just moves them to different areas and different times to get their groove on.. I will not be looking for mature bucks chasing hard before Holloween.. I will be in the woods and big bucks will be moving some, little bucks will be chasing like fools, but that is really early for the big boys. Hope i shoot a brute on Oct 1st and don't have to worry about it. LOL
  4. You are right Doc, and i apologize. I almost didn't hit the post button. I guess the talk of other countries like Canada, Peru and Mexico being good places to live got my blood boiling a bit. The thought that currupt, third world, anti-gun, socialistic, un-inventive, dependant countries seem good to some people is sad. As you stated so correctly, as America goes, so does the world. Well what ash heap would any of these three countries be in without the ,gererosity, security, economic power and moral compass of the US over the years. And i can assure you, if America ever falls from greatness, they will surely crumble as well. And liberty will be forever lost.
  5. I would without a doubt go for the weekend in Nov.. That was the easy part. As for the 2-3-4 or 9-10-11 well thats a toss up.. My years of serious rut hunting have told me that the 4th through about the 9th are the absolute best times to see intense chasing and the best times to see mature bucks. If i were in your situation, I would choose the first weekend. You may be a tad early for the best chasing but you will be solidly in the seeking/chasing and should see plenty of activity if you hunt sun up to sun down... No excuses- hunt all day period.
  6. You should feel prettty good about your results concidering the conditions John. Mixed plot looks real good.
  7. You know what amazes me Sits, is that you just posted how stupid we are to believe everything that the media tells us and then you speww this govt-media talking point.scare tactic as if it is as certain as the sun coming up in the east. You have been dupped again by your cnbc-cnn-msnbc pundents. look at the people most worried about this CRISIS. Brenenke, Giethner. and the CBO - The supposed neutral commitee led by that women who was Oboma's spokesperson before she was named to be Head of this NEUTRAL CBO. Give me a break. Oh and then there is Jamie Diamond (JPM) and Goldman sax, shouting about the dangers coming Jan 1st. Wake up big man... Your such a fool.. Looks like you'll believe anything that Thieves and Commies tell you. It's all part of the game plan. Create panic to get the policies you want. Do us a favor and move to Canada before Nov. so we don't have to worry about your "D" vote..
  8. For 26 years My glock 19 goes on my hip when i get out of bed and only comes off when i go to bed at night. It goes everywhere i am legally able to including church. Bianchi holster keeps her snug and warm..
  9. Congrats USA. Italy cut the ten ring on the final shot to take the gold. Clutch pressure shot for sure. Silver is good showing..
  10. Dom, No offense but i let the first "we are not the greatest comment slide," but now you've posted it again. I guess i would like you to point to the country that is #1... Ya'll have your right to express your opinions. Just curious to hear who's way of life is more desirable then America's???
  11. Looks like some great memories buckboy.. Nice deer...
  12. Absolutely, There is a story of a Cuban businessman who risked his life and came to this country. As he told of his struggles under a socialistic system and the struggles of his family, to a group of Americans, he overheard them say to each other, "man, we don't understand how lucky we are." Hearing that, the cuban replied, how lucky you are? I was lucky that i had America to escape to. You have nowhere to go if America fails. This is truelly the last stand on earth. If Freedom fails and America fails, people will most cetainly ask for centeries to come. "What was it that Americans valued more then Freedom? Historians will undoubtably shake their heads and wonder Why? What the hell was wrong with them???
  13. Doc, i agree with you completly. But if we don't know history, and more importantly our history, we will certainly fall from that greatness. The Roman Empire was at it's hieght for two centuries and then began it's fall and collapse in the third. We are almost half way through our third. It was said that "the days of democracy are numbered when the belly takes control of the head." People talk about the greatest good for the greatest number, but when you strip away free will and individual liberty, you stangle a system that was masterfully crafted by our founding fathers to do exactly that. Freedom is a fragile thing and Americas greatness has been fed from a fountain of Goodness, morality and righteousness. Alexis de Tocquevilles' quote still holds true almost 180yrs after he wrote it...
  14. Welcome aboard Mark. Looking forward to your input..
  15. I didn't know that. Made in Farmington
  16. That was great Sits... Thanks for posting. lmao
  17. I share the love of these quotes with one of history's greatest Americans. Ronald Reagan. Our 40th President used this quote after 8 years of restoring America to her rightful place of greatness, in his farewell address to the nation. Will we ever have a leader take us there again..??
  18. Me understand grow good... words need saving... long winded bad... me measure penis... small penis... small bear...
  19. Nice shootin' WNY. You say you hope things get better the more you shoot, but i don't know if you can improve on that. Keep doin' what you doin'.
  20. Nice job fixing those paula. Is your camera facing West? do you get good morning pictures or are they all washed out like your before pics. Do you think you could set that cam up on the same trail but face it slightly to the North?
  21. Boy i'd make a terrible DEC officer. I totally missed that. Your lame NYFUR
  22. Nice looking buck. He's got a funky looking right brow . Good luck ..
  23. I hold the bow on target as i draw the bow back and find my ancor. As the pins start to float naturally on the spot i begin the trigger sequence by pulling back and squeezing til the trigger breaks. This is how i try to practice but hunting is slightly different in one way. The proceedure is the same but with a more purposely controlled trigger as apossed to a surprise release.
  24. Girl , you know your sh#%.....LOL
