  3. Wowzers !!! Picket. Worthy opponent. Job well done my friend !!! That feeling that the chase is over is as powerful as the feeling of that rack in your hands, finally. This is why we do it !!! Enjoy staring at him for the rest of your life ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  4. Upstate, I'm certain you will be back at it. Your attitude will dictate that and it seems as if your determined. Hope all goes well with your surgery ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  5. Unfortunately my son is gonna think this hunting thing is "easy". If only he knew.... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  6. I would, but I'm certain my wife is all over it . We had the pic from my 15' archery buck blown up and everybody got a canvas for Christmas. Dad cried. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  7. Not as much as I do ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  8. And yes, my son sure appears to have the hunting gene. He went out with me a few times this year and did really good. He's not even 4 yet ! I already told my wife, if he doesn't hunt I'm forcing my daughter too! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  9. I didnt. Barnett Ghost 410, scope that it came with, rage bolts & extreme heads. Nasty little thing. I just found out it loves to eat whitetails... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

  13. I have seen them hang the corn till the last few rows are standing... Give it time Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  14. Had a bad experience with the evercalm stuff. This was years ago, put it way upwind of me, perfect scenario and had multiple deer come in and blow out of the area. Was peak rut too, nothing came close. Never used it again and switched stands.... I had heard good things though. Maybe my herd was a bunch of commys that didn't like intruders...? Idk. Hope it works better for you ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  15. They walk under your stand, of course ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  16. And girls.... Careful. She's sensitive...lol. But WELCOME !!! That buck is a dandy. Looks like you have some pic history with him. You are lucky, if you have the time be in the stand as much as possible and don't forget the afternoon hunts !! This is the time when that dude will mess up and give you the opportunity. The magical first hot doe on your property will change everything for your activity. Good luck !!! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  17. Rage is a great head. That's why they are popular. I use the extremes for the compound and Xbow. No complaints. As already stated, all heads will have good and bad story's. You practice enough and prepare to only take a good shot at the right time and you could kill with a field tip. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  18. He's a stud. Nice work ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  19. I wouldn't be so quick to change. Shoulders are a bad area. The right angle and any broadheads can pass through, or any head could be stopped. Smaller caliber rifles can be stopped by a shoulder. Is it more likely to be a better option for rigidity with a fixed... Yes. Do you get better odds with a larger expandable....yes. Marginal shots always happen, no matter the prep, I'm not saying don't switch I'm just saying there's no need too. What happens if you go with a fixed and get same results ?? Just trying to save you a headache. My advise is get whatever your most confident with, as that's half the battle ! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  20. I shoot alot at 60. Like 70% of my practice is at that range. I don't expect I'll ever take a 60, but when you shoot 60, 20-30-40 is a confidence booster. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  21. If anybody is interested, I have found a great method for easy tick removal. My dogs get loads every year and the tools weren't always 100% extraction. Step one, get a Qtip Step two. Wet one side Step 3. Spin the tick in circles, trying to keep it spinning with every turn. Basically you want to spin the ticks body around and around. They will typically fall off after about 6-10 spins. Works like a charm on the mutts and I had one in my neck this year that came out in about 15 spins. The ticks do not "puke" the nastys back in as they don't fear for their life like when you use tweasers or a tool. It's like your pushing them around and they get sick of holding on. Give it a try ! 22. Because I got a smoking deal on mine ! It was also a weapon I considered for awhile. I put my time in for bow, and if I'm unsuccessful with the compound I like the bit of advantage the xbow gives me. I just got my first kill this week, and I literally can't wait to take it out again. I may take it during gun season....! Also,I get 4 opening days every year !! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  23. So this was an interesting year so far. Started out with seeing too many deer to count to barely any sightings. I had changed stands around a few times throughout this process. We were consistently getting night time pics of a few big guys, but no real good sightings during daytime. Sunday night proved to be a tell tale for me. Saw alot of chasing and activity right around dusk so I knew it would get good in the a.m. When I pulled in the farm that morning there was deer in every field.... Sometimes a good sign, sometimes not. Made my trek across the beans and down the ridge to the creek bottom without getting busted. At first light I had a 1.5 8pt bumping does all around behind me. They finally made their way off when I caught glimpse of a rack coming through the swamp. I immediately grabbed the bow as he quickly approached. As I brought the butt stock up it barely tapped a clip on my safety harness, he stopped and looked around but his head was behind a tree, I knew I had to thread the needle through some branches and not give him the time to walk into my shooting lane. So I got down on the scope and started looking at trajectory.... Found a perfect hole in the branches and as soon as I did, in came a leg, so I moved back a touch, focused on the heart and sent a rage extreme right through him. He tried to "run" off but his body would only allow him short bounds. He went about 50yrds and died in sight. Awesome !! I could see his rack from my stand so I decided to just hang out for a minute and finish my coffee and make some calls ! He's a cool deer, and my second mature of the new farm.
