A few are interesting, but I'm keeping my butt out of the proshops... I love my E32 and don't need any temptations.

No matter what you pick for choke I would recommend you try a few different loads. I have a Remington versamax with the factory full choke. By far the best load is Magnum blend. I pattern to 60 but typically won't shoot a bird at that distance. My 870 with an extended full choke liked them as well, but Remington nitro turkey load patterns just as good and saves me 20$ a box !! I think a good start for you is grab any full choke and a few different loads. If you can pattern well to 40, run with it ! As far as calls go realism is best with a diaphram IMO. Slate is my #2. But any seasoned turkey hunter can tell you, hot Tom's gobble at loud farts and domestic violence.... Just get out there and give it a try !!! (Hunting, not the violence part)

I've been averaging a dozen each weekend. Might try and sneak out tomorrow. Flight pattern has huge flocks at my place 30 min after first light and 2-3pm. Gonna try and tuck in a new spot where the loggers recently cleared out. I never seem to have any better luck with an owl on stand. Was considering grabbing a hawk since they seem to constantly be yelling at each other.

I'm superstitious. I would say yes- depending on how long your waiting between hunts and what calls your using in your sequence. If it's the only spot you have to hunt and like to get out frequently I would recommend you go out and stick to one call and keep it at the 30 min mark. Try one specific call each set. I explore the different calls that FoxPro has, especially in areas where there is high pressure. Let's face it, most FoxPro owners are playing bay bee cottontail, but how many are doing guinea pig distress ? I'll play all crazy crap and it has actually worked. For reference on my superstitions.... I have a new 110 acre farm with lots of predator action on cam. I have hunted once at night and once in the a.m. both hunts where under an hour. I won't go back for another week or so when the temps drop are there's a good moon. Overcalling is a very common mistake in the dog game. Coyotes are dang smart and I believe they won't make the same mistake twice. Be sure to let me know if you get one with a crazy sound too, and don't be afraid to try one !!! -

Now would be the time for dogs. Breeding season is here and if you use vocals, you won't see a fox but will have a great chance at getting a dog. Stick with howls and pup distress, no barking or challenges. Before I had the kids I had no prob getting double digit dogs every season. Now I don't even get out double digit times.... -

You and I could go back and forth a bit here, lol. When I do night hunt I don't bother with the foxjack since it's attached to the caller and I keep that close (20yrds or so) to make sure when they come in the eyes are facing me and reflect. Day hunts I'll put it out 50-60-70yrds depending on size of shootable area and always use the foxjack. By the time this thread is done we sure will know everything about each other's hunting styles ! Hopefully some info is helpful to somebody. I am NOT a PRO, just learned from ALOT of mistakes. -

Add to that, even if you don't have an e-caller they have stand alone decoys with remotes. -

Agreed, but I try and back out further since I also have the foxjack decoy on the call. I have noticed after getting that visual there is far less of the "hang ups". When I first started out with hand calls it was more often than not they would not come in or out of cover for a good shot. I ended up making a feathered contraption on fishing line, hanging from an arrow. I immediately got better results as I almost had a dog snatch it out of the ground. I've also been in the worst possible wind and have had coyotes and fox literally knock over my call on a dead run to attack the foxjack. Any type of visual can be a major help in getting a better commitment. If you have a FoxPro or any call with an aux option I highly recommend the investment. -

Using a FoxPro I try to get the most amount shooting area downwind from the call. Very rarely does a dog come in anywhere other than down wind. If they do they are typically running in anyways, so they are easily spotted and I'll typically try and stop them as fast as possible because I'd rather take a far shot than a running shot(s). Most important part of any set is playing the wind. Dogs nose > whitetail nose -
I have a heirloom "gun". My grandfathers rem 700 in 6mm. I absolutely love hunting deer with it but it only comes out when the weather is nice. As far as a go to gun I couldn't say I have one. I always decide on what and where I'm hunting and pick my weapon accordingly.

I give a nice kiss to my bullet or arrow prior to loading in the chamber. Not a superstition I guess, more of a ritual. Thankfully I haven't contracted any communicable diseases from my ammo, that I know of, yet.

They said less than 1.5 mil. It was 1,499,998 people. Gosh, what was Trump thinking saying 1.5 mil !?! I'm gonna protest !! Anyone wanna join me ??? I'm prob not gonna go if nobody else will though, and there's a funny re-run of Ellen on tonight too. Cancel the protest for now, I just heard the whistle of the teapot, gotta go mix up my hot cocoa and snuggle up next to my electric fireplace. I can't wait to try out these new fuzzy socks I got. Dang, where's my teddy bear !?! Omfg. I can't find teddy. Life is over. I have no words. I need to go find a trump meme and post to facebook. So mad.

Amazing. The versa port is an amazingly simple and bullet proof system. Literally.

Revamped my predator setup this year

Good luck on recovery.... As far as thermal I'm with you on hoping that tech becomes cheaper. I cannot get a thermal and keep my wife.... -
I'm pretty sure the argument of "how many" only really matters when it comes to votes, and it seems that Trump is now the POTUS, so what is our reaction supposed to be about the "no support" pic. Also, can u get a timestamp on both pics, just so we all know your not getting misinformed by the media? I'd hate to find out that the pic showing very few people was actually taken hours before the ceremony.

Lol, just the guts, which imo makes the gun what it is. I love that I can buy junk trap ammo and never have a jam. All my shooting partners have an issue at some point, even the pumps jam on the real cheap stuff. I have prob put 3-4000 rounds through mine. I also leave without a sore shoulder...

Ha ! So many forums, so little time. The illuminated reticle sold me ( and the price tag, my insides hurt too) Not sure what area your in but if you wanted to "test drive" on a flat top, pm me. I'm in Erie county. Always wish I could test stuff prior to purchase ! -
Looks sweet. I have the versamax which I'm sure you know is basically the same gun with option of 3.5". Best autoloader I have ever shot. You will love your v3

Yotes come to the calls but can quickly get skiddish. having dogs gives them something they are curious about. They don't feel threatened physically and I think it's a territorial / curiosity thing. They tend to stick around and come in close for a much easier shot. I'd love to try it first hand but I do only speak from only seeing it done a bunch.
