  2. That's it, I'll just dip my darts in poison.... That will take em down ! But momma always said not to dip my dart in poison, ah well
  3. Hi, my name is treeguy, I too have this addiction you speak of. ( everyone responds " hi treeguy " ) Can't wait to blow some smoke, my tc only has one body on it and It's a coyote.... Patiently waiting for my first whitetail encounter good luck all
  4. One of my fav shows / relentless pursuit / is sponsored by cold steel. After watching the host spear and kill a buffalo, I quickly looked up the nys legaloties.... I'm with u though, I would def add a spear to the arsenal. For now I'm considering they're blow gun, to assist me in tree rat population control
  5. Got a funeral to attend this afternoon, but should make it back for a wet, evening hunt. And thank u Mr rocket, I had a dream last night I speared myself a 180" 14 pt. too bad I can't get him mounted or post pics ! Oddly enough my post said what dreams are made of...
  6. That's what dreams are made of..... Awesome.
  7. Country woodchuck meet swamp dog. I've been clearin trails fer cidiots since 1981.
  8. Was hoping the 130's 8 was gonna step out tonight... Just two fork horns.... Nice night though, a lot warmer than this a.m. !
  9. Time to blow some smoke with the 50 cal ! Finally get to go in the back yard again in hopes that there's a couple big boys hanging out. It's been untouched for almost a month..... Should be a nice sanctuary full of brown ! Good luck all !
  10. 2 years ago I finally got sick and tired of being cold. I would say I am more likely to get cold than most and it really upset me to have to get out or the woods more than others to go warm up. I purchased a set of scent blocker dream season BIOS and jacket, they had a removable fleece vest and a fleece outer and were very heavy duty so i guessed they would be warm. I took them out for one sit in 20's weather and returned them the next day. I felt I was warmer with my old 5 layers on. So i started the Google searching and saw the heater body suit and a line called arctic shield. These seemed to be my best options. arctic shield and there " re-tain" technology that was supposed to keep in 90% of your bodys heat. It was basically like the heater body suit except you didn't have to climb out of a human sized garbage bad to get a shot. I intended on using it for late season bow so i knew I would not want to deal with the heater body bag. This was the first time I ever spent money on good gear so i wanted to be sure I was happy. I ordered the h7 bibs and jacket in realtree ap. The jacket was a 3 n 1 with a removable scent blocking longsleeve and a removable hood ( which has adjustments to make it the best hood I've ever used, especially when trying to scan 180 degrees. I removed the longsleeve and just use it for early bow. that cut down on the little bit of bulk the jacket had. The gear is fairly thin for what it does that's for sure. So, if ur reading this u probably just want to know if It's warm.... Oh my goodness, I can honestly say I have never gotten cold with it on. Chilly, yes but never cold. Mind you I'm in wny and hunt all the way through late muzzle. I've sat in snow storms, windchills of negative temps and still stayed warm. I cannot recommend this gear enough ! They aren't the cheapest but they are far from the most expensive and they do what they are supposed to do ! Pros WARM ! fair price Removable liner that is actually usable Removable hood that is actually usable Not bulky Tons of pockets inside and out, small and big Quiet outer shell quality gear WARM nice camo patterns available All sizes available Adjustable straps on bibs, handcuffs on jacket and waist strap on jacket Windproof, waterproof, scent proof etc Armpit zippers to help cool you down if u get too warm DID I MENTION WARM ? cons Cost, not the cheapest gear out there Outer shell is not the toughest material so if u push through thick brush it may not handle well Walking long distance is not advised unless you take the jacket off and put it on at stand ( It's that warm ) I am more than happy with my purchase and if anyone else out there is sick of getting cold I strongly reccomend you get the arctic shield ! I'm pretty sure they offer a trial period and i know they offer your money back if your not satisfied. They also sell hats gloves boot covers etc. Check them out they have a great line.
  11. Forgot I posted this question.... No replys anyways so I guess I'll share my success story. Used this for about 2 weeks of hunting, had a lot of different bucks come through and investigate. Hung a scent wick out on thanksgiving and had the buck I shot, soon to be on the wall, come in ten minutes later, head down lookin for a girlfriend. I will be trying it again next year !
  12. Let me clear that up a bit. Quality batterys, wasn't taking excessive amounts of pics, warm temperatures, quality memory card and set to only take pics not video. Both cams died in under 2 weeks time.
  13. My dad has one. It's been sent back to manufacturer twice now. Batterys were only lasting less than 2 weeks. He tried duracell and energizer lithium, only took about 20 pics too. Takes great pics, fast trigger speed but apparently he's getting the defective ones. It did get great reviews though.... I'd like to remain neutral though, considering I recommended it to him and It's been in the mail more than on the tree.
  14. Thanks all, and I too try to enjoy my time with the " ole dog " as much as possible. He's had open heart and a minor stroke, but he won't stop hunting till he's in a pine box.... Oddly enough since bow opener I've been telling him this is his year, looks like I was right ! We have 7 in the freezer so far and we both have a few tags left. Can't wait for muzzle ! ! ! So thankful to have had such a great year..... Now if I could just get him to let the little guys go and watch em grow ! LOL, never happen - old school meat hunter
  15. thanks ! Thats the saw I use to trim bushes, really does well on saplings too, lol
  16. This was a great year for me and my father in franklinville. We both got good bucks in the same spot, except his buck prob was the one who broke a tine of my buck Dads Mine
  17. So my father has been trying for years to get one with all weapons. This is his 5th this year and completed his " 5fecta ". Bow, shotgun, pistol, muzzle, and this guy with his oh-6 yesterday in franklinville. It's been a great season for both of us and I'm so thankful he finally did it. This buck ended up going about 450yrds with an exploded liver, a grazed heart and a hole through one lung... Unbelievable ! Dropped dead 50 yrds from where I got my buck again, it was a great day !
  18. E-arguments make me giggle. WWUTD !? ( what would uncle Ted do )
  19. 200. Fair for both. He may be able to get 250-300 somewhere else but It's a toss up. I have same ml with the ss barrel, bought @ dicks a few years ago for 300 with rebate and dicks sale price. Great ml for the $
  20. Don't know if this will help but, I have a tc and a fairly inexpensive truglo scope. 777's x2, 245 gr tc sabots. When I first started the sight in process it took no time to zero at 50yrds. When i moved to 100 I was all over, high, low, left etc. I was never really more than 6-8" off center but I was not confident with it. I ended up getting 250 powerbelts with the understanding they were more accurate. Incorrect, at least for my tc. Now I'm figuring It's the scope. So before I went to irons, I wanted some more advice and went to my local shop vs Gander or dicks. Right away they asked me what my setup was and told me I was crazy for shooting 245 and 250gr sabots. I took their advice and got 300gr tc sabots. My goodness, I can shoot golfball sized groups @ 200 yrds ! I think ur best bet is to do some e-searching and see what the best setup is for your specific ml and go from there. It may not be the scope.... I have a 500$ ml with a 100$ scope and it is a tack driver. Just my .o2 good luck, I know ur frustration all too well
  21. Awesome.... That beats any stand encounter I've had ! It's all fun and games till that biggun comes in range and u go for your gun and that magical flying grouse noise spooks him off.... Good luck !
