That is true but no hunter needs to die a needless death as well its one of those toss up topics
-
I know you mean well but why should there be a law enforcing something that hunters should want to do with out a law. Senseless just like seat belt and motorcycle laws. If people are that dumb not to wear them then so be it.
If it is made a felony than you should not see anymore hunters die a needless death in a tree stand trying to assist others in need of meat or for thier own meat or trophy you should always wear one and those who dont ruin the enjoyment for other. For the reason they have that weigh in on thier minds but apparently some people dont understand that and if it is indeed made a law I say good for that. As well as hunter deaths and statisticly hunters that fall out of tree stands is the number two cause of death among hunters other than not following simple gun safety.

I did recently look at a variety of guns and I must say I absolutely fell in love with the Mossburg 500 12ga shot gun the looks of it the feel of one that is the gun I am going to get first on my list thank you guys my brother also suggested that for me as well since he used to have one before he got his Savage .308

Since I am a young hunter I was wondering what kind of rifle and shot gun would be best for me I will be using state lands and hunting deer now and than turkey in the spring. I am just looking for a little advice for a rifle to use and a shot gun as well.

Gotta wear that harness whether your 5 feet high or 25 feet high, once you get used to it, its just like bringing your weapon in the stand with you. It should become another piece of equiptment you need to hunt with. I hunted for a day last year on some state land out on long island with a friend from work. When I walked to him to meet for lunch, he was at least 20 feet in the air with a climber an no harness. Couldn't believe it. Just remember, the harnesses come FREE with all treestands.
While in my Hunters Education class we all sat and saw a video on tree stands and I agree no matter what height you are or what kind of tree stand you are using you must wear your full-arrest harness aka full body harness. In my opinion I think that should be made into a law if you are caught in a tree stand with out a harness on you should just be told to leave the lands that you are on.

My name is Joe and I just recently completed my Hunters Education class. I live in western Schenectady county about 1/4 mile from Schoharie county in Region 2 if im not mistaken. I am anxiously awaiting the shot gun and rifle season . I am 26 years old and my older brother needed someone to go out with so I took the class and ready to go hunting.

Although I am a new hunter I have been a spotter/pusher for as long as I can remember I have seen my share of big bucks I think I would give this one about a 160-170 and maybe 5 years old but definately some where between 4 and 5 years old. Good luck taking him this year.
