  1. Originally I wasn't crazy about the youth hunt in the middle of bow season, but I think it is a good thing overall. I much rather see a kid out in the woods than sitting in the house in front of a video game. In terms of impacting bowhunters, my guess is that there will not be a ton of kids in the woods since it is limited to a certain age group.
  2. A buddy of mine missed out on a decent sized bear there when he was pushing on a deer drive last year. His gun jammed and never got a shot. I would never go there to just sit, we only do deer drives during the late rifle season. If you are willing to do a decent amount of walking, there are some good spots there. There are always tons of guys there within 200 yards of the roads - it actually turns into a circus on weekends.
  3. I was approaching the ladder to my stand one morning and my flashlight catches 2 sets of glowing eyes at the base of the tree. Two of the biggest racoons I have ever seen were standing there, refusing to run away. We had a standoff for about two minutes until they decided to run up the tree that MY STAND was in. Lets just say I waited on the ground until it got light that morning.
  4. Early continues to be on a different planet. Just continuous blurting of the Obama White House talking points.
  5. Early stated that if you ridicule the president for every little thing you are racist. So I guess if you disagree that the president ignores the constitution, seeks to fundamentally transform America, and continue his marxist agenda - you are certainly racist. Meanwhile - YOU were the first one to point out Romney's religion.
  6. thanks for everyones' suggestions. I think I am going to circle the entire property in with a few strands of barded wire with orange safety tape every few feet. I do have a right to fence in my property no?
  7. i was thinking of doing that but then I was worried that someone walking through could step on it and then suit my ass.
  8. Anybody have any suggestions to stop ATV trespassers? I have put posted signs all over my property and emailed the neighbors in the area, but nothing has worked. Everytime I go to my property there appears to be a new trail. I heard that I could become liabile if I put up barbed wire and someone gets hurt, but I am getting really fed up. I doubt that the police will be able to do anything because these kids are alomst impossible to stop or catch. I was thinking of setting up trail cams along the ATV trails, but I am afraid that they will get stolen. I am not against ATVS (I own 2), but I do not ride through people's property that is clearly posted.
  9. Good genes there. Hope he survives the season for you.
  10. looks great! some nice looking mounts you have on the walls too!
  11. Another frustrating day. Sat total of 10 hours at two different spots and only saw 3 does the entire day. Each one looked like it weighed 80 pounds soaking wet. There deer are just not moving only heard about 7 shots the whole day which is not a lot for 3m where the deer are as abundant as squirrels.
  12. This morning seems promising. Crunch time!
  13. Never used incense but I tried a bone collector buck bomb a week and a half ago. I am convinced that it completely spooked a group of does that were coming into range. They didn't spook like they winded me, they just put their heads down and took off.
  14. thats a nice buck congrats! The brows look legal to me.
  15. what a frustrating weekend for me in 3M. So yesterday I got out to a new stand that I set up this season. First time hunting the stand - a good funnel spot where deer come in and out of adjoining state park land. Sat from 5:30 - noon and did not see an animal. As the temperatures rose to the mid 60s i decided to still hunt over to my regular stand about a half mile away. I tried some rattling and grunting and sat for an hour, still nothing. At around 1pm I decide that it is not happening for me and climb down. I start walking to my jeep, and as i get about 40 yards from my stand I hear something crash on a knoll. I look to my left and its a beautiful 8pt. Really heavy rack with a wide spread, looks like a 3.5 or 4.5 year old buck. Where the deer was standing I could have taken a shot and bagged him, but he was elevated on a knoll and I would have been shooting into the air a bit with no backstop. There are no houses behind there for at least a mile, but my first instinct was that it wasn't a safe rifle shot so I passed. He stood there for 30 seconds, then bolted and ran right past my stand. So pissed about it, and I probably could have gotten away with the shot, but to me its not worth taking a questionable shot.
  16. Very few shots this morning and have not seen a deer
  17. I believe baiting is legal in nj and pa. I know a guy that literally hunts over a timed feeder in nj.

    Bear

I heard someone shot one yesterday near me in 3m. Big female.
  19. It's amazing how bad at shooting people are. Especially if you are shooting a doe or small buck, there is no reason to force a shot and not take a high percentage shot.
