    Fog

This morning was not ideal. I saw one doe that just appeared out of the fog but she was really spooky. My brother saw a spike and 3 small does
  2. I always inspect my stands before clinging up. These guys are unreal and should have their hunting license permanently revoked if caught doing this type of thing. Then again, they probably don't even purchase a license.
  3. Great story and great buck. It really is cool how there are so many different ways to hunt deer in this state based on terrain etc. must be really cool to take a big woods adirondack bruiser
  4. I agree that the politicians have not managed development well in most places. There should be acreage minimums for lots in the more rural areas, and the big developers should have to follow the same sets of rules and zoning restrictions as everyone else. That being said, if you didn't want the land developed, you should have bought the property yourself. You can't blame the people that move into the houses for these issues. I bet a lot of trees were cut down when they built your house at some point too.
  5. With the full moon last night, I would not have thought there would be much deer movement this morning. Shows what I know.
  6. For me I probably spent less time in the woods than past seasons. Overall I would say that I saw fewer deer total, but more bucks. The weekend of Nov 11-12 was insane by me, seeing 8 different bucks. Also, I had opportunities on a number of bucks during the first two weeks of rifle season. Unfortunately during bow I just had bad luck (no shot, bucks walking in too early or just as legal shooting hours ended, etc). During gun I passed on a small 7 only to have a guy on the property next to me take him, and then saw a really heavy bruiser on thanksgiving, but he only had 1 antler. My brother shot a nice 10 pt the second day of rifle, so not a total disappointment for us this year.
  7. yeah you could have gotten 4 dmps this year for 3M if you wanted them. I always see a ton of deer where I hunt. My problem is that I always let doe after doe and small buck after small buck walk waiting for the big boy, only to wind up with nothing at the end of the season. Hoping to take a doe at the very least this weekend.
  8. total sour grapes on his part. He fired a shot to scare the deer away? I have never heard of someone doing that ever. Congrats on your first buck!
  9. sounds like that is near goosepond park. I own some property off of bull mill road that borders goosepond. You should call the police or DEC if he keeps trespassing. Are you part of monroe/chester gun club?
  10. same - chester and blooming grove. Every single inch of woods is occupied by 6 hunters it seems
  11. this is clear as mud and sounds intentionally vague so that they can give you a ticket if they feel like it.
  12. Probably his one and only daylight appearance of the year during peak rut in mid November
  13. i have had bad experiences with the 2 wildgame trail cams. The first one lasted for about 4 months and then started putting a thick black line across every image (i even tried cleaning and wiping the lense). The second one stopped uploading the images onto the memory chip. I would hear it taking pictures and see the ifrared light go off, but there would not be anything on the chip or internal memory. I just switched over to moultrie and so far so good.
  14. there is no way that this patch of woods could be hunted, even with the 150' archery limits in NJ. There are houses on three sides and a big water storage tank in the back (you could see it in the pictures). Also there is a bike/walking path that runs behind it. I will be wandering off the walking path slighly this winter to search for sheds
  15. Yesterday morning had a doe come trotting past my stand. I then hear a Buck grunting and he can in right behind her. He would have been a beauty but only had 1 antler. I would say they still chasing

    bear meat

I read that bears eat their own waste during hibernation. Not sure I would be in a rush to try that meat.
  17. Great idea. Most kids and people for that matter are completely clueless (and helpless) when it comes to the outdoors.
  18. also...shooting a 7mm at a bear up in the tree? What was the backstop for that shot?
