  1. Let's keep hoping, here's a good website to subscribe and show your support for reform. http://www.nyleaders.org/
  2. Too bad the other guy got away, guess he'll go back to his day job working for ACORN and Protesting the 1% crowd.

    Don't

Yeh, only one problem. When one person feels what is a right to them actually imposes on the rights of another, then it is not a right.
  4. Fifteen homes in my town were foreclosed on last year and their will be more this, but the schools union still demands their employees get a raise. The nation is slipping away.
  5. Simply put, the 1st Amendment was added to protect offensive speech. Not sure what you define as crazy speech. The 2nd Amendment was then added to guarantee the 1st Amendment. Please don't forget that if you took the words spoken by the founders of this nation and said them in todays context, they would be labeled terrorists and jailed. The 2nd Amendment does not limit the number of guns a citizen can own. Neither should it, because in times of crisis the militia (us citizens NOT the National Guard) may need to arm other citizens who failed to arm themselves. In closing, an individual who poses a threat to himself and/or others should not have the right to own firearms. But that threat should be defined on an individual basis.
  6. Your numbers sound a bit off. Can you tell me what school district you are referring to? Are you a teacher by chance?
  7. No apology needed. This is the purpose of a forum, to exchange ideas. Good or bad, positive or negative.
  8. You are not babbling and seem to know Islam quite well. Yes, they are an ideology (not theoology) built on murder and rape. They are pursuing the extermination of non-muslims across the planet and we are aiding them now. The current non-muslim cleansing is going on in Darfur now. Educate yourselves further here. This is the documentary that Mayor Guilliani and Police Commisioner Ray Kelly spoke on. http://www.thethirdjihad.com/
  9. I have to give Ted credit, that is a good one. I never understand why the liberals get upset and say guns kill people. That is what they are designed to do. Yes, we also use them for hunting but that wasn't the original intention. Of course a gun is a tool just like a hammer. I can no more blame the gun, than I can blame the hammer when it is used to kill someone. It is every Patriots responbility to own a black rifle. Should the day ever come to defend this nation a sharp wit and strong language won't be enough.
  10. I don't know where it is in writing but I can tell you from growing up in the city, that if it is any fun "it is illegal".
  11. Nice to see the good guys win once in awhile.
  12. Wow!! You must live in a nice town. Sounds like Greenwich, CT. Those numbers are very high. Then again maybe most of your residents are teachers. Average income per person here on LI is probably around $75K a year. Average teachers salaries are around $90K a year.
  13. Did you check the salaries through www.seethroughny.net? I don't see how you can say that a $120K a year to teach shop and drivers ed part-time is not a lot of money. Don't forget that the retiring teacher will get a pension of 50% of their pay and lifetime health benefits. That eqautes to over 2 million dollars should the teacher collect for another 30 years. In reality that teacher makes $180K a year and is simply waiting to collect the extra $60K when he stops working. Do a google search, I can guarantee average income in your area is around $60K a year and those workers won't get a pension when retiring. The school rankings at this time are nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Every school tweaks the numbers to make there school look great. That is why the governor is going to require a standarized test for all students and teacher rankings. That way you will honestly know where your school falls in line.
  14. This is todays local newspaper, http://www.newsday.com/long-island/politics/cuomo-escalates-pension-battle-1.3598188#disqus_thread Here is the best line, " The biggest municipal employee union hoisted a giant inflatable pig on the Capitol steps -- saying it portrayed "greedy Wall Street" types..." Sounds more like the pig represents teachers salaries and benefits.
  15. I promised I would let this topic fade away but I went to www.seethroughny.net and found out that the Kindergarten teachers in my school district typically make $110,000. a year and it got my blood boiling all over again. One of the gym teachers makes over a $160,000.- People don't realize how bad it really is out there.
  16. I agree but don't see limiting it to teachers. Anyone who gets acheck from the taxpayers either through employment or even food stamps should have to that. I work for a private company and I had to do it. Of course I don't think all government employees would pass and think we may be even worse off with Biden as president.
  17. I can remember another famous quote, "Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach". I'll be glad to send you a bolt cutter so you can escape that horrible teaching job. Not sure how you can put up with a 180 (part-time) days of it. Please don't forget that you don't pay taxes like we do. You work for the taxpayer and as such simply return your ill-gottrn gains. We generate the money for you by selling a good that people are not forced to accept and be charged for.
  18. He only knows part of the story. Some companies do match 50% but up to some low annual amount like $5k, after that no match to yourpension. They can stop it at anytime which they did on me when times got tough, and don't guarantee a 8% return like on public pensions.
  19. For the sake of our children I hope you NOT a math teacher. Then again maybe you are and that is why our kids perform worse and worse every year. Put the Union Newsletter down and do some real research. How can you contribute 3% of your pay and then collect 50% of your pay when you retire. Not to mention free health insurance for the rest of your life. Did you pre-pay for that too? Is that the new math? You don't contribute 90% towards your pensions. Your postings are doing teachers a great dis-service. I take that back, actually I think they are very reflective of the individuals teaching today. Keep posting your inane comments and opinions, they make my side of the argument even easier. Have someone read this article to you in todays paper and maybe you'll understand what we are saying http://www.newsday.c...ficit-1.3594149 Here is another old but very accuarate article. http://www.nytimes.c...?pagewanted=all One more http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/miarticle.htm?id=6759
  20. Thanks, I'll bring my camera just in case I see anything.
  21. I thought same thing. He looks like a monster for LI. It's a nice park, used to be one guys property and had head of cattle on it. Nice place to walk, you can take the trails all the way doen to the water.
  22. Not that it means its true, but the video says it was shot at Caumsett. Might take the family for a walk around there tomorrow.I found other websites that mention the Caumsett white deer too.
  23. Here is the letter for the culling. https://files.nyu.ed...ling-notice.pdf More info on the same subject http://huntington.patch.com/articles/deer-still-need-management-in-lloyd-harbor-mayor-says
