Some Marines are in trouble
wooffer replied to 132 eight pointer's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I guess we should treat their dead the way they treat ours. That would be stripping them naked, burning their bodies and dragging them behind their vehicles. Does anyone remember the treatment our dead received after our Blackhawk was shot down over Somalia. Soldiers are trained to seperate the humaity of their enemy from the activity of war. That be killing a complete stranger just because you are told by your government. -
Nice, very nice.

Anyone go to Rocky Point this week? Any activity or action to report?

GUNOWNERS BEWARE OF NYC
wooffer replied to wooffer's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Tha analogy of a drivers license is an excellent example of states recognizing others states licenses. Unfortunaely (and I hate to say it) only the Feds have the authority to straighten out state to state issues like this, and that is never gonna happen. -
GUNOWNERS BEWARE OF NYC

I should clarify, I am not saying you should ignore the law because it is unjust. I am saying that you shouldn't apply a punishment to those law abiding citizens unaware of the law. It goes without saying that laws must be promulgated once passed. -
GUNOWNERS BEWARE OF NYC

The Marines case is very ironic. We'll give you a firearm as a marine and ask you to kill for your country. But take the uniform off and we won't trust you to carry a fireare around the country to defend yourself. NYC law is unconstitutional, plain and simple. Constitution of the United States "Article IV, section 2; The Citizens of each State SHALL BE ENTITLED to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States." The majority of states in this country allow concealed carry. -
I also found a video on Brownells website showing how to paint your firearm. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=11837/GunTechdetail/Brownells-Spray-On-Paint-Series

I think Precision Bluing may do other finishes too, but not sure. I was just happy to find a shop in the state that still did real bluing. They weren't easy to find when I serached the internet looking for bluing services. Duracoat is one of the paints you can apply and bake. Here is Brownells link to the paint finishes. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/cid=0/k=paint/t=P/ksubmit=y/Products/All/search=paint You can go www.youtube.com and find people "Duracoating" their firearms. Looks nice too.

GUNOWNERS BEWARE OF NYC
wooffer replied to wooffer's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
"well seeing that they broke the law, as bad as it may be...they still broke the law" Just because a law is passed doesn't make it a just law. Look at the recent ruling of Washington D.C.'s decade old gun ban. Last week a woman from out of state asked a NYC Police officer to hold her pistol before she entered the WTC Memorial because the sign said "no firearms allowed". She was subsequently arrested and had to post bail. Something that even the worst criminals charged with the same crime don't have to do. She was legally licensed in her state and was NOT in possession of an un-registered weapon. NYC's laws are going to far and trying to keep up with them is difficult at best. Laws of this nature should be passed to protect the law abiding from those with criminal intent. Not limit the freedoms of the righteous. If you ever decided to drive down to Long Island (or from LI to upstate) to hunt you most likely will break NYC law. Why? Because NYC doesn't allow you to transport firearms through the city unless they are in a locked box. I don't know any hunters that actually lock up their firearms (with a lock) while on the drive up to hunt. Just make sure you never get a flat tire on the Cross Bronx Expressway and a cop stops to help. Becuase if he sees your (un-locked) rifle case in your car you are going to jail. -
NYC was bad enough under Giulianni, but even worse under Bloomberg. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/another-nyc-tourist-arrested-on-gun-charges-despite-having-permit/

I had an old Remington receiver blued at http://precisionbluing.com It was 30 years old and very badly rusted. I tried to blue it myself but it didn't look right. Precision Bluing is here in NY and they did a nice job, a very nice job. It literally looks new. If you want to paint it then check Brownells.com. They sell paint that you spray on then bake. Supposed to be very durable, but I personally never tried it. Precision Bluing I have used and can vouch for them. You also have the option of wet printing. See it here on youtube at

I would like it if the postings started with the newest ones first. Instead of scrolling trough old posts to get to the news ones at the bottom.

Some more tree/animal huggers in East Hampton . . .
wooffer replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
The reporter didn't ask if the protesters are vegetarians or just against hunting? The commercial handling and slaughter of cows, pigs and chickens is much more cruel than hunting. -
He should be charged with manslaughter. Plain and simple.

I thought it was more of a question, rather than a statement of truth. As supported by the posters question: "Anybody else see this, whats your opinion??" This case might not be police misconduct but there are cases of this happening. At least in NYC where I grew up. That is fact and not meant to demean the hard work the rest of the honest cops do.

Shave every week day after morning shower before work. Use a Panasonic electric shaver. Shaves as close as a blade and you are done in no time. You could also walk around while doing it. Weekends are hit or miss. www.newegg.com has some of the best prices on panasonic shavers around.

I'll be out this Friday, save a nice one for me.

I tend to think this story is a fake also.

I've never been to their stores, but find their catalog prices on the items I needed very competetive. Like anything else you need to know where to shop. Some stores have better service and prices than others.

Don't ever confuse owning a firearm as simply a hunting tool. Owning a firearm is necessary to the protection of one's liberty and nation. The fact it can put food on the table is just a bonus. That is no to say that a firearm used for hunting must hold more than 5 rounds, mine don't. But you should own at least firearm that does hold more than 5 rounds. Freedom is not free and you may have to defend it one day.

I see it as, inside the game farm property the deer belongs to the game farm. Outside the fence he belongs to mother nature and is fair game. The game farm should be alerted though to his escape. That way they can fix their fence. Then again......where is this place??

They are beautiful animals but as with everything they will die one day, by nature or man. Man's methods for the most part as more humane than say a coyotes. I also figure that the deer I kill suffers much less than the cow did that I would be eating in its place had I not gotten the deer. I only take clean shots also, I am not one of those hunters that shoots at a patch of fur through the branches and hopes he got him. I still feel a bit of guilt killing them and a little more so for the doe's.

I use a fixed blade Gerber or Buck? Only models still made in the USA. I don't like the metalurgy of the CHINK (cheap horrible imitation nasty krap) blades.
