  1. The original article in the link I posted at the start, is from this month, in this year.
  2. What he said in that link prior to the part you posted is more telling IMO. The coyote (Canis latrans) is a recent addition to the fauna of eastern North America, and in many areas coyote populations have been established for only a decade or two. Although coyotes are known predators of white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) in their historic range, effects this new predator may have on eastern deer populations have received little attention. We speculated that in the southeastern United States, coyotes may be affecting deer recruitment, and we present 5 lines of evidence that suggest this possibility. First, the statewide deer population in South Carolina has declined coincident with the establishment and increase in the coyote population. Second, data sets from the Savannah River Site (SRS) in South Carolina indicate a new mortality source affecting the deer population concurrent with the increase in coyotes. Third, an index of deer recruitment at SRS declined during the period of increase in coyotes. Fourth, food habits data from SRS indicate that fawns are an important food item for coyotes during summer. Finally, recent research from Alabama documented significant coyote predation on fawns there.
  3. There are a few guys on here who do say otherwise. I just don't understand why they do.
  4. The truth is starting to come out. Research is constantly being done. The old surveys are no longer valid. http://www.petersenshunting.com/predators/are-coyotes-killing-your-deer/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=editorial&utm_term=sportsmanchannel&utm_content=petersenshunting A study conducted by U.S. Forest Service Research Wildlife Biologist John Kilgo at Savannah River Site in South Carolina is revealing a stark picture of coyote predation on deer populations.
  5. I just sold a little FIE/Boito Brazilian made double 20 gauge for $250. I just never used it anymore, but it was a great hunting double. Pretty little thing for the money. The young man I sold it to is an avid small gamer and always wanted one, so he now has mine. He loves it. You can find them for sale for the same price on www.gunbroker.com.
  6. I don't hunt them in the open. I'm hunting the forested woods of the Catskill Mountains. They will move freely in the mountains during a full moon. They will also come into a call here on a full moon night.
  7. I asked for examples and he says you just have to look. Perhaps he can provide one example, since nobody who's looked, can. (sarcasm of course)
  8. Are you really that ignorant? Don't imply I believe in discrimination because you can't grasp the concepts I propose to you. Of course there will be "sides". One side will be on the side of freedom and one will be on the side of big government tyranny. People will need to decide which "side" they want to support. That has nothing to do with any of the physical characteristics you chose to mention. Like the NRA, which has a single mission statement and excludes no one, truly America's oldest civil rights organization, I don't discriminate against anyone unless they are against the mission I support. (If you think that statement about the NRA is false, you better do some research into their defense of Constitutional rights for all, since they were founded in 1871.) You need to try and understand one simple fact, the bigger the government, the smaller your freedoms. That's my point.
  9. That sickening idiot with the rebel flag doesn't know racism from patriotism. I challenge him to find anything I ever posted that could even remotely be considered hatred of someone because of their skin color. The fool has a habit of making wild, emotional accusations without any evidence to back them up. Best to ignore such an idiot.
  10. Plenty of articles for anyone who's interested. http://www.redflagnews.com/search?q=confiscation
  11. If it all hits the fan, there will be more division among the people than unity. I will help those I feel are trying to return the country to it's original Constitutional objectives, and oppose those who want to destroy it. That goes for food and water too. I oppose aiding and abetting the enemy during that time. There is no room for conscientious objectors then either. You are either in the fight, or a liability that cannot be afforded at that point. Perhaps they should've paid attention to the warnings they laughed off for years. I have no sympathy for anyone who's misery is self inflicted. Besides, the opposition will be counting on our consuming resources with compassion for the masses, while they will grant them absolutely no mercy. One need only look to the first revolution to see what this one will be like. I pray the idiot electorate wises up prior to it all hitting the fan, but I have great doubt they will. And for the record, I do NOT hate anyone. I hate what some people do, say or insist upon, but I do NOT hate them. The only thing I hate is stupidity. And I don't post things to make people argue, I post to make them think. They choose to argue rather than think.
  12. What? It makes perfect sense to me. Sorry I missed the other one though.
  13. It's the same "incremental" strategy used by the Left to ban anything they find "offensive". It's hard not to notice the mindset they deny having. Totalitarian control is what all tyrants dream of.
  14. I get all that I want, whenever I want, by going hunting. I'm no slave to electronic tech either. I log on to the laptop and check these forums whenever I feel like it. They do not hound me through an electronic device 24/7 that I cannot resist answering.
  15. Unfortunately, there is a lot more political oppression in NY State, as well as the rest of the country, that effects my firearms and hunting freedoms, than there are firearm and hunting opportunities. Sorry if you have an issue with my priorities.
  16. I have noticed the three stooges tend to reply with snarky comments to posts in the political section that point out issues with Liberalism and the Left. They claim they are not of that persuasion, but certainly do regard attacks against it as verboten. They should debate from their point of view to be taken seriously, but perhaps they lack the ability to do so, because the facts prove the point of the post. Logic would indicate they take offense at the point of the post, rather than the posts themselves. Like gun banners who will never be happy until all guns are banned, they will not be happy until the political posts (regarding guns and hunting as well) are banned. NY breeds a lot of totalitarians. That's why it's an oppressive Blue State.
  17. A very broad statement that you never choose to debate. Your opinion is noted, but challenged. If you have the intelligence and information to stand by your claims in an intellectual, factual debate, I welcome it. If, however, you choose to engage in childish, opinionated statements, without the guts to back them up, I ignore you, and encourage other informed members to do likewise. At least we now have proof you are a liberal leftist, since you've stated your opinion regarding your thoughts on the conservative mindset. Time to lower your flag and raise an Obama insignia.
  18. It's obvious you fail to see the relation between those who are "offended" and your right to hunt, or own a firearm. Is that too much of a leap for your intellect to manage? The constant whining is worse than the political posts. First the political posts had to be removed from the general feed, now it bothers you because you use Tapatalk. News flash, the world is a place of reality, constant challenges and frustration. Try as you might, you will never succeed in molding it to your liking without disregard for other people. But you certainly have a right to try, while being just as annoying to others as those you chastise are to you. Perhaps a better option would be to fix the problem on your end, where you have more control.
  19. Actually, I was volunteering at the Firehouse at the time, because somebody has to be there when an alarm comes in. Interestingly, we don't have a single member who would be considered one of these "fearful" Leftists. We would never exclude them, but for some reason they don't volunteer.
  20. A .223 will do the job. I wouldn't opt to use it if a more appropriate rifle was available though. But if I had to use it, I'd be sure it had a proper deer killing bullet in it, and I'd keep the shots within it's limited range of energy.
  21. I believe it was very appropriate for Christmas, since it explains a lot of the controversy in America surrounding the holiday, Christianity and Christ. I find it hard to get through the holiday without constant reminders of it's "offensiveness" to certain people. I'll see if I can find something to post for New Year's Day that will be equally upsetting.
  22. This a great video that explains a lot of the politics in America. https://www.facebook.com/prageru/videos/979516015424588/?fref=nf
  23. More evidence the confiscation mentality is on the rise. http://www.redflagnews.com/headlines-2015/confiscation-is-coming-obama-to-issue-executive-order-targeting-42-million-retirees-with-massive-gun-ban
  24. Sometimes a good shot requires a 2nd shot to provide a quick kill. I'm sure you would take that additional shot to dispatch an animal that was well hit the first time, yet still breathes. No?
  25. Join every pro gun organization you can. Stop voting for anyone who doesn't support the 2nd Amendment. Stop thinking anti-gun laws that don't affect you personally are OK or justified. Stop thinking certain types of compromise with the anti's is good. Stand up against any and all infringements on your rights without fail! The government is not your friend, and any anti-gun elected official is your enemy!
