  1. Was at my camp last weekend and did not have any ticks. Of course I did not spend that much time in the woods. Checked my trail cam and came back. Going back this coming weekend and I will check for ticks again. Maybe I should lower my trail cam and catch them walking around. LOL
  2. Well, I got all my issues resolved. Now I have nice 16 Gauge reload. It's amazing what the correct components will do. LOL
  3. oops....I read your post incorrectly......must be my age showing. LOL
  4. So.....tell us which rifle you selected? (all are great.....I just wanted to know. LOL)
  5. WoW - looking good.....where is the wood stove and bar chairs? LOL
  6. Hmmm....if you need to keep pumping air you would think that something is not right. I hope you get it working.!
  7. I got a new "button buck"coming up behind my camp and is about 100 yards away. Just right for bow season in a year or two! North Country!
  8. Just read an article in the Plattsburgh Press Republican and it predicts a banner year for ticks. I'm a mixen the concoctions...........maybe I should carry a small bottle of spray with me all the time......or what about a battery powered time release spray. Hmmmm.........the next new invention. LOL
  9. I need to figure out what I can do with my "wooded plot"! Can't get any tractors or implements in there....so what could I do? Do I just spread seed around and hope it will take? Check out the temperature variances and deer in the background!
  10. I think that we are all waiting with "baited breath" to see what you found that fixes the problem and who had the correct diagnosis. LOL
  11. For me in the North Country the regular season starts on the 4th Saturday in October - which is one week later than in the past. Muzzle season starts the 3rd Saturday. All these dates are OK with me. The extra week at the end is new for us up here in the big woods. Good chance for some great snow tracking with my muzzle loader.
  12. Made hickory smoked chicken breasts tonight with tortellini salad and hot peppers!
  13. OK - thanks for the info. Looks like I will get an extra week after regular season with muzzle loader.
  14. There are supposed to be several new season date regulations for the entire state, but I thought the commentary period is not yet over.
  15. Thanks Dom - we are heading to our camp in about 1 hour! Time to do some fishing and scouting. If anyone else goes - be watchful for those new born fawns!
  16. How did it go? What was the problem?
  17. Here is a young buck about 200 feet from my camp. Check out the temperature!
  18. My wife and I will I'll be going to our "camp" this coming weekend when my sister is visiting from Lon Gisland, NY (LOL) she lives in Albertson! Every time she comes she has a hard time falling asleep - she says it is too quiet!
  19. Hey NFK-ADK - "OMG defrazzle I think I looked at that property on ADKbyowner.com, beautiful area, loved the house!!! Land looked extremely promising!!! Ended up staying on LI because Mom was very upset I was going to move upstate to hang out with the deer... " The owners of "ADK by Owner" live across the street from me! Laura and Keith. I remember well the day they moved from PA to the house they are in now.
  20. Found it! http://smokehouseofthecatskills.com/ I always spend too much money here!
  21. Scot - was just in Hunter, NY turkey hunting with my son. Turkeys = 1 Humans= 0 Also stopped in German Butcher Shop going towards your area.....forgot the name - but had great meat!
  22. I agree with NYbuck50! Lever action, short barrel is the way to go in the "big woods". I have two rifles for deer/bear = A 1963 Remington 700 BDL in .308 and my 1965 94 Winchester in 30-30. The .30-.30 is my "go to" gun. Easy to carry, quick to bring up to the shoulder - peep sites!
  23. It could also be the electro-mechanical valve which controls the on and off pressure. A simple test would be: Turn off the power breaker; In the valve, turn the "off" pressure adjustment nut to turn off at a higher pressure (check your unit whether to turn clockwise or counterclockwise); Turn on the power breaker and see if the water flows for a longer time. If so, you definately have a "high pressure" problem. On mine it was a iron deposits that got into the pressure side of the switch and the switch though the tank was full. I took off all the fitting, cleaned them all well, removed the iron deposits, re-assembled and lo and behold, my tank filled up. Good Luck!
