Can't beat the basic savages. The Stevens lineup will do but the stock is pretty flimsy. Tikka's are great out of the box but cost a bit more. Remington's are in between but can be a crap shoot on out of the box accuracy sometimes. I've heard decent things about the ruger americans. You could always get a milsurp mauser for cheap as well. All depends on what you want, and how you want to use it.

Just got orders for Korea with a return to Drum. Thought I left there for good a few years ago but they won't let me stay gone forever. I've been predator hunting in WA and was planning on deer and elk but the army didn't agree. I'll be duck hunting this fall. I'm just trying to figure out how things work in NY since I never hunted there before. Can not believe I have to leave my pistols in another state. It doesn't make any sense to me but I'll avoid the whole court time thing. I'll be lurking while I'm in korea trying to figure out what I'm doing for the 2014 season. Won't actually be over there until DEC 2013.
