  1. Back in action I took a few years off
  2. Yea I gotta agree with bkln on that one. I went hunting for my first time three years ago there and it took me about an hour before I was heading back to my car. I haven't heard that kind of firepower since I left the Marine Corps. It sounded more like a shooting range then somewhere peaceful to go hunting! Tons of guys blasting off shotguns to push deer around. You would think it was safe with the way they set up the parking spots however when you start hearing guys just banging off for no reason other then they are probably drunk its time to find a different spot.
  3. damn I made the field point error lol got all set up and realized I had all field points and no broadheads lol SOB!
  4. woaw mushroom pickers! I kept seeing these BIG white mushrooms from time to time scattered among the forrest! I wonder what kind they are and if they have deadly mushrooms on long island? Im sure they do if someone has a pic post it I am curious!
  5. lol I couldn't believe it! I heard this sound coming behind me like WHAT THE HELL IS THAT! Perfect stalk RUINED! lol I found a cool new spot with tons of sign of what looks to be a couple of BIG bucks in the area. Scrapes and rubs EVERYWHERE! They seem to stick to a certain area and I think I found the sweet spot! As for that fat bastard! He was just out getting some morning exercise big grey mustache blowing in the wind having a good old time lol deer liked him better anyways lol
  6. so after a long morning of bow hunting at rocky point I come across a road that had 4 deer within 50 yards of me! I crawled up within 30 yards for a clean shot took my time they didn't even know I was there! Had one BIG doe picked out and just as I go to draw some fat son of a b goes cruising by on his mountain bike laughing spooking the deer! I hope his fat butt gets a heart attack! Oct 1st as far as I know you aren't even supposed to be bike riding at rocky point...... That's hunting on long island for you lol!
  7. tons of em on long island
  8. yea sterling is a good time! I may head up this weekend I gotta see. I love the patches of moss on on the mountains they make a great bedding area for a mid afternoon nap lol
  9. I would just get a long string and a couple of old tin cans that way you guys can chit chat while your up in your stands lol
  10. quick question I was interested in some feedback from my fellow United States Marines. My question to you regards the use of our jungle cammies for hunting? I know that Marines are not supposed to wear our cammies off base however the digi pattern works perfectly for early season bow hunting. I cut my name tags and removed all signs of rank however I am more interested in the moral ethics behind wearing them. Does anyone have a problem with it? Might sound a little overkill that I am bringing this up however I was curious to see how other MARINES felt about it. Do you ever break em out to head out on a hunt? Just curious thanks guys and gals.
  11. very cool were you in a tree stand or on the ground?
  12. yea I have been on a few and they can get pretty miserable pretty fast. I have stuck it out a few times I just recently hosed my cammies down with permethryn and i don't want to take a chance of that bleeding out on my skin. I think ill just go tomorrow.
  13. Hey guys I was wondering who was going out for a hunt today based on the weather. So far on long island there is no rain I kinda wish I went out. Supposed to clear up later on maybe ill jump in the woods for an evening hunt. If you are heading out to face the storm my hats off to you GO GET SOME! Also whats the deal with the rain? Do deer move around a lot when it rains? Is this a better time to hunt? Lets hear your opinions!
  14. man how cool is that! I love hearing stories like that! Congrats guys that's what hunting is all about. Guy have to remember this is not the most popular sport in the world anymore. A lot of people are against it these days. I love hearing stories about fellow hunters helping each other out like that. This is a brotherhood. Every time I run into another hunter in the woods its an experience! I have never met a grumpy hunter in the woods and I have met some pretty cool people in the woods!
